Hi,

I've found this forum a week ago and have been listing through posts until then. I must say that I find this forum one of the most interesting ones and it is just one more proof what a great experience the internet could be! Few years ago I have been playing with an idea to record a music peace for fun with someone from the other side of the world and now I see how good you've done all that! Congrats to all and keep on with such a good work!

Maybe just a short introduction of myself, if I write in the future, so you’d know who is asking strange questions… I’m from Slovenia and am 28 years old. I’m learning the guitar as well as flamenco by myself since there is no chance to find a flamenco teacher here. My playing will always be no more then a hobby for me, but I'd have hard time finding something that is fulfilling me more then playing the guitar, although my playing isn’t as good as the playing on your recordings. Otherwise I’m working as an electrical engineer for a living… It's interesting I found out that many of participants of this and also FT forum also have similar jobs… I always thought there must be something wrong with me, since I love music and numbers, but now I see there is something wrong with all of us ;-)

Pull up a chair and make yourself at home. Thanks for your kind words. A lot of us are into electronics and computers, maybe flamenco is a healthy alternative or maybe it's because it is so complex.[:D]

Hi Stermecki,

Hello and welcome to Foro. You say you have no flamenco teacher in Slovenia, that's the same story for most of us dotted all over the place.

I spent many years without a teacher and made slow progress. It's a long road so I think you should start to organise to take a trip somewhere, might be Spain or might be somewhere closer to your home, but either way, try to find your closest teacher.

Otherwise, look forward to your posts.

Thanks both for your welcome; it is really a great feeling to be around here and to have a possibility to ask and even listen to audio clips….

About finding the teacher – yeah I know, it would be great, but it is impossible to find one to study with all the time. So the only alternative would be to go on a trip and take lessons in Spain for 3 weeks or so…I’m planning to do something like that, but this is regretfully not going to happened in next month or so…Actually I visited Spain this summer…I went there to buy a guitar made by JM Gonzalez. I’m still totally in love with this instrument and really play much more since I have it.

About my playing…Well, I bought all sorts of books for flamenco guitar and also some for cajon…So I’m playing some peaces by JM and Oscar Herrero and am also trying to play some stuff by Tomate (Encuentro video) What I like even more is try to compose some of my own falsetas…Nothing serious…just a lot of fun! I am really sorry I don’t have the equipment to make a decent recoding. I have a Sure mic, but have a lousy sound card and the end result is full of noise. I will try to upgrade my home computer this winter; it will be great fun trying to make some similar recordings that you did…what a great place this internet, really…

About my favourite artists…well, all of them ;-) Depends upon the time of the day and the season of the year…At the moment I’m listening a lot to the new album by Gerardo Nunez. I really like his jazzy approach. Also the new album by Tomate is one of mine favourites. Paco of course…at the moment I like to listen to his older recordings and I am totally in love with the sound of his guitar on these records. I was lucky to saw him twice on the concert this year…incredible experience. I’m crazy about the cante…Duquende was great on the concerts by Paco, also Tana and Montse. This year I saw a performance by Mazanita and her more traditional approach touched me even more.

What about yours favourites at the moment?

I am listening to Emilio Maya's CD Temple a lot at the moment. I really rate his style and compositions.

I don't have this CD but I heard some suggestions and I read a great interview about Emilio…I will include this album in my next order. Thanks.
