Hey guys,

I have been checking Spain's eBay trying to find a used flamenco guitar, but it seems that eBay is not the preferred online auction site in Spain or at least for guitars. Do you know what is the Spanish equivalent for eBay in the USA or where are the good buys being sold online?

Thanks

St

In Spain, the general second hand market is VERY small. You dont buy second hand like in the rest of the world. You are considered to be poor if you buy a second hand television or whatever. Thats why Ebay.es is so small
Houses, cars, boats and other things are being bought second hand an also guitars. i´ve never seen a good flamenco guitar on the internet but also, I havent searched. The biggest online site is milanuncios.com

Aside from big stuff like cars, boats, motos etc. most "secondhand" things in Andalucia come from someone else throwing stuff out and it will disappear within hours, no matter how rubbish it is [:D]

Seems like consumerism works fine in Spain.

Well I looked at milanuncios.com but the problem is that you have to be local and go see the guitar to be safe in the exchange of money. It's like Craigslist here in the US.

I wish there was a marketplace like eBay where you have some type of guarantee if you get scammed and they don't send you the guitar you bought. I know that can happen even here in US ebay, but you can minimize these risks by buying from someone who has great feedback in example.

I need to buy a Flamenco guitar soon, but here locally I have no options and will have to buy on eBay since it is the most reliable way to buy used in my situation.

I was looking at buying the Jose Ramirez FL2 since I can probably get it for $1,500 US and it has great reviews and will be easy to re sell when I am ready for an upgrade. Thoughts?

Oh yes, Spaniards are bigtime consumers.

I have a VERY nice 2A blanca for sale. 2000,-€ with a case. Its a LOT of guitar for the money.

thanks for the offer... I only have a max of $1,500 to buy a guitar..Unless you can sell it for that including shipping and case to the USA.

Is the FL2 Ramirez a good buy for $1,500? I read that it is not made in their shop but to their standards and specs. THere is a guy selling one used in new condition and I am about to buy it. Any thoughts on that guitar? is it worth the 1500.00?

I could offer you a Hermanos Sanchis Lopez 1F negra I used as a second Instrument.
Quite bassy sound but punchy like whatever.

stru21, If you go for the Ramirez FL2, try to ensure that the seller has a return/approval policy-----most reputable guitar sellers on eBay provide an approval period and possible return. The reason I say this is because I've seen a lot of FL2s for sale in a lot of places for around $2500 or so. I don't know if that FL2 you're looking at is worth the money but if there are, relatively speaking, a lot of FL2s for re-sale, it might give me pause. I've also only heard mediocre reviews on the FL2. For $1500 you could get a very nice second-hand sanchis hermanos or a number of other hand-made flamenco guitars second hand that might be a lot better than the FL2.
