I have always wanted to hear Grisha on a flamenco guitar!

would be interesting to hear grishas opinion about the guitars he tried out there and which one grisha liked most :)

from these, i liked the Conde most

but the cordoba was not bad (for the price - $779 at guitar salon) either

however, i guess when grisha plays, even a $100 guitar would sound fantastic [:D]

TANúñez -> RE: Grisha tries out a Conde Felipe V (Guitar Salon) + other guitars (Dec. 10 2009 16:10:15)

yeah I too would love to hear Grisha's opinions. I loved the Reyes Negra.

Ramon Amira -> RE: Grisha tries out a Conde Felipe V (Guitar Salon) + other guitars (Dec. 10 2009 16:13:58)

Well, to me the Reyes Hijo – especially in "Part One" – was easily the best.

I've been touting Cordoba guitars on this forum, and have been recommending them to my students. I have never had a chance to play the 45F, but for someone on a budget, I think they would be hard pressed to find a better sounding guitar for that price.

Andy Culpepper -> RE: Grisha tries out a Conde Felipe V (Guitar Salon) + other guitars (Dec. 10 2009 16:37:13)

Wow. Grisha's at the top of his game. That La Cañada was incredible.
Yeah the Reyes was easily my fave.

jg7238 -> RE: Grisha tries out a Conde Felipe V (Guitar Salon) + other guitars (Dec. 10 2009 19:00:18)

Simply all around fantastic playing! The tangos was my favorite.

CuerdasDulces -> RE: Grisha tries out a Conde Felipe V (Guitar Salon) + other guitars (Dec. 10 2009 20:05:22)

Just wondering, did he learn all these songs by ear?

Ramon Amira -> RE: Grisha tries out a Conde Felipe V (Guitar Salon) + other guitars (Dec. 10 2009 20:28:01)

I honestly don't want to make too much of it, but this is a flamenco forum. What he's playing are not "songs."

CuerdasDulces -> RE: Grisha tries out a Conde Felipe V (Guitar Salon) + other guitars (Dec. 10 2009 21:20:51)

Ok.....
"Pieces" is better? I think most people knew what I meant.

Doitsujin -> RE: Grisha tries out a Conde Felipe V (Guitar Salon) + other guitars (Dec. 11 2009 0:37:24)

So.. Im confused. What is important here? That Grisha noodles on the guitars, or the guitars itself? [>:]

Arash -> RE: Grisha tries out a Conde Felipe V (Guitar Salon) + other guitars (Dec. 11 2009 1:33:01)

both of course

---

re. reyes:
don't know but the reyes sounds a bit dull to me (specially the trebles), no singing trebles. but maybe thats just me.
seams like grisha liked the reyes most too ?
because he played 3 video parts, and conde just got 1 video [:D]

XXX -> RE: Grisha tries out a Conde Felipe V (Guitar Salon) + other guitars (Dec. 11 2009 8:33:09)

Id take the Ramirez. Maybe if the Reyes would have been a blanca, i would have preferred that over the Ramirez. And the Conde over the Reyes if that had been a blanca [:D]

Armando -> RE: Grisha tries out a Conde Felipe V (Guitar Salon) + other guitars (Dec. 11 2009 9:33:34)

The Ramirez sounded best to me, but it's hard to say if all guitars were recorded the same way (same distance, same microphones etc..) Some guitars had new strings on it such as the Reyes and the Conde and i found them to sound too "chillona" but that was just my impression.

regards

Armando

I hadn't heard that tango before. Is it his own composition?

new video,

Grisha experiences a real Torres

Ramon Amira -> RE: Grisha tries out a Conde Felipe V (Guitar Salon) + other guitars (Dec. 11 2009 12:32:58)

Guitar sounds fantastic.

The 1890 Torres that is.

But I'm a little puzzled. It was my understanding that Torres built guitars in two distinct periods, the earlier one being his best. I have read that in the later era he more or less slapped them together (for him) and just kind of did it for friends etc., and that the later era guitars were not necessarily very good, and nowhere near the quality of the early ones. Yet if this is an 1890 it is well into the late era, in fact not much before his death, and yet this guitar sounds great, rich bass, sweet treble. I really don't understand it, except maybe don't believe everything you read.

Andy Culpepper -> RE: Grisha tries out a Conde Felipe V (Guitar Salon) + other guitars (Dec. 11 2009 12:36:52)

yeah I liked the Ramirez too. I'm partial to blancas. And it's probably 1/5 the price of the Reyes and Conde [:D]
It just didn't seem as responsive the other 2 though.

Mike, that tangos is "La Cañada" by Paco. It's on his Siroco album.

Ron.M -> RE: Grisha tries out a Conde Felipe V (Guitar Salon) + other guitars (Dec. 11 2009 12:40:44)

Always a great pleasure to see Grisha in action.

(I think 50% of his brilliant performance is what's going on in his mind, as well as his fantastic technical execution.)

If anything, I liked the Cordoba 45F better than ANY of them.

Was slightly duller, but had more control and balance overall IMO.

So there!

cheers,

Ron

(BTW...If you are into dead planks, I have a Ramirez student guitar sitting in my cupboard that sounds 100 times better than that Torres if anybody wants to make me an offer. [:D])

blanca fetishist !

but if you close your eyes and don't look at back and sides and don't read the description,,,, the conde was the most "blanca" of the negras imo :-) , no ?

maybe because Koa is not so dark as palisanto and more like cypress? haha....

but interesting that everyone prefers something different......we got votes for all....except "poor" tedoro perez, which received no votes (was nice too, but compared to others, not outstanding)

but you are right, it also depends on strings, distance to MIC, etc...

now the question is, which guitar had the best playability ?
thats the question which only grisha can answer, if he should stop by !

Take another listen to the quotation from "Aranjuez." That bass sounds mighty good to me.

i will buy it from you in 2089
(or my son will buy it from your daughter)

diazf -> RE: Grisha tries out a Conde Felipe V (Guitar Salon) + other guitars (Dec. 11 2009 13:02:02)

For me the Conde had the best sound followed closely by the Cordoba. my 2 cents...

I agree with you there. They're all very good sounding guitars, and as we can see from the comments, much depends on individual taste and preference with respect to sound, but playability will always be my determining factor when buying a guitar and having to choose from a number of excellent guitars.

aeolus -> RE: Grisha tries out a Conde Felipe V (Guitar Salon) + other guitars (Dec. 11 2009 13:26:42)

I liked the Ramirez too and a steal at $2879 marked down from $3899!

Doitsujin -> RE: Grisha tries out a Conde Felipe V (Guitar Salon) + other guitars (Dec. 11 2009 13:28:07)

..now I got back home from work and listened to some of these videos. Nice guitars.
