Arash -> Juan Carlos Gomez - new CD? (Dec. 9 2009 8:32:28)

hi,

just discovered these tracks on youtube, but i can't find a CD from Gomez at flamenco-world.com or other sources.
in which CD are these tracks?

oh, btw, check out this video (with duquende) and the falseta at @ 1.43 ....
gomez is one of my top favourites at the moment

If you find out please tell me. I like his style. I learned both falsetas that he plays in the video around 2-3 years ago. He used it for playing for ... Guadiana? Maybe.. I dont have the CD anymore. I thought for 1 year that nino josele played ...but I was wrong.

Arash -> RE: Juan Carlos Gomez - new CD? (Dec. 9 2009 10:36:06)

yes, they both play this "soft" style (Josele and Gomez), so understandable that one could mix up, when hearing to audio only

cigany -> RE: Juan Carlos Gomez - new CD? (Dec. 9 2009 13:28:06)

Is it possible these are different people? Youtube says "Jose" not "Juan".

XXX -> RE: Juan Carlos Gomez - new CD? (Dec. 9 2009 14:17:13)

Very nice stuff... but i think there are two Juan Carlos Gomezes? This guy and the other guy being Canizares' 2nd guitarist?

Conrad -> RE: Juan Carlos Gomez - new CD? (Dec. 9 2009 15:03:00)

Hey, guys. You're all on the right track. "Juan" Carlos Gomez has some solo albums and plays with Canizares. Josele, obviously totally different player.

But these youtubes are "Jose" Carlos Gomez and he's the man. His playing on Marina Heredia's album and La Susi's album are really good. Recommended albums.

Arash -> RE: Juan Carlos Gomez - new CD? (Dec. 10 2009 3:16:46)

ah ok, sorry, then Jose.

so, in which exact album/albums are these 2 tracks (the first 2)?

thanks

Conrad -> RE: Juan Carlos Gomez - new CD? (Dec. 10 2009 14:26:48)

his latest album, I'm pretty sure. I don't know where to find it, though. Try contacting the user flamenco514

Arash -> RE: Juan Carlos Gomez - new CD? (Dec. 10 2009 14:42:03)

ok. thanks.
meanwhile i found his myspace page:

http://www.myspace.com/josecarlosgomez

but parts of some other audios from him there

Not so obvious. His 2nd CD has the same sound as the recording I had. Josele sonds anyhow very different on every CD. What me made me think Josele played was the way of composing and acompaning, and not so much the sound. There are many similarities.

Conrad -> RE: Juan Carlos Gomez - new CD? (Dec. 11 2009 13:10:28)

sorry, Doitsujin, I was just referring to his name. nevermind me...

Anil... I don't have any secrets, just listen to a lot of cante albums and strip-search youtube! And as far as Dani, his sound is too messy/noisy sometimes but I understand his style when it works.

Nothing new but here's some little-known, little-recorded players: Everyone should hear Manuel (Manolo) Silveria, he has appeal for all, I think, a totally beautiful and smooth sound. Also... Juan Ramon Caro, Fernando de la Rua, Manuel Parrilla, Juani Requena, Juan Campallo, Paquete, El Tuto, Antonio El Titi who has a really fun attitude and is off the chain! There are so many more good players, too difficult to say who will get proper backing, proper recording, or rise to the top of anything. And it seems some are more ambitious than others as far as personal original music, and others may be happy just to play for singers or never record for a broader audience. Or their playing doesn't translate well on CD. I don't know what's going on! Even with someone like Jose Carlos Gomez, it seems from his album samples that there is a lot of pop and he wants to sing, which is a tragedy to me. Although that one bulerias is pretty good, I think.

But I read that Antonio Rey and Diego del Morao are both working on solo albums right now. That is good news, I hope they get it right.

Doitsujin -> RE: Juan Carlos Gomez - new CD? (Dec. 11 2009 13:23:04)

You have interesting informations... Another Antonio Rey CD would be great. The last one was fantastic but a little dark overall. Such a great player..

man, i am waiting for a solo album from diego since more than an year now [:(],,,,what is he doing all the time? i hope adding more great ideas and falsetas !!
i guess i will be the first person to order the CD (maybe after you ;-)

Arash -> RE: Juan Carlos Gomez - new CD? (Dec. 11 2009 15:26:08)

maybe we should also add nino seve to the list:

---

ok, i searched in youtube, and found some amazing videos from the guitarists you suggested, for instance, Juan Ramon Caro, wow, amazing bulerias:

and

Conrad -> RE: Juan Carlos Gomez - new CD? (Dec. 11 2009 16:25:44)

Okay, first for Doit and others: http://www.antonioreyflamenco.com/

And where I read about Diego's album is from an interview with Nina Pastori about her latin grammy win for Esperando Verte (great album) in which she said she didn't attend to pick it up because she was in studio recording for his album!!

And ya, Nino Seve (Severiano Jimenez) has amazing facility but his constant use of scales drags me down. You might find the same with El Tuto who doesn't even seem to play a lot of original material yet. There are obviously lots of others, I guess I just posted the ones that have gotten my attention lately.

So brace yourselves, give me some time and I'll put together a post full of youtube links and info on these guys.

back soon...

Conrad -> RE: Juan Carlos Gomez - new CD? (Dec. 11 2009 20:17:20)

some of these have been posted before, but anyway:

Manuel Silveria, consummate flamenco guitarist, who couldn't like him?

(Vicente like, but amazing)
(man, so pretty, delicate, round tone)
(great ambiance in these)

Antonio El Titi (this guy is so money, lots of fun)

(with Montse)
http://www.youtube.com/user/antonioeltiti (his profile)
and his album: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/antonioeltiti

Juan Ramon Caro:

and his site/album: http://www.laluzproducciones.com/?item=artists&artista=4

Juan Campallo, brother of dancer Rafael who used to dance for Vicente Amigo. From a huge flamenco family. I met Juan and he taught me this alegrias which is beautiful. Very sensitive guitarist, only 26. Hard to tell here, but he's good:

Fernando de la Rua, out of Brazil:

(it's an old one, but it shows his potential as an interesting composer, I think)

Speaking of Jose Carlos Gomez, a great alegrias, don't remember the other guitarists name:

Juani Requena:

El Tuto, another machine (second guitarist behind Antonio Rey for Farruco's recent tour)... nothing original published yet, I don't think, just plays other people's stuff mostly so far:

(picado from hell after 1:50)

Antonio Fernandez, guitarrista oficial del Cante de las Minas:

I also like this player, Jesusito Gomez, a.ka. Jesules, a.k.a. Jesus Rafael Gomez Casares but I can't find his music to buy or any info about him. Listen to his bulerias alegrias, fandangos... real potential there. His youtubes were posted a long time ago where he played effortless PdL and Morao, Parrilla.

Arash -> RE: Juan Carlos Gomez - new CD? (Dec. 12 2009 5:14:45)

thanks for the effort and all the videos man.

agree, this manuel silveria guy is special.
kind of unique sound and way of expression.

He takes absolutely no prisoners in his playing. Great.
Seems like you are the only one on this forum who knows/has heard of these guitarrists, Conrad.

wow !

just checked this out!

this is a KILLER bulerias with dropped tuning !

you can also clearly hear the influence from Diego del Morao in some parts.
and what a sound from the Conde Negra.

Conrad -> RE: Juan Carlos Gomez - new CD? (Dec. 17 2009 17:17:29)

Actually I think it's a Sanchis which we know is the same thing. ya, rondena tuning

Yes, the gypsy from France who has many influences and has chops galore and it looks like he's having a good time always. Check out his fusion: really smooth lines, great development, obviously some people will hate it but they can just keep their traps shut. I grew to love it with the exception that the sax is slightly badly intonated or something.

I have the original version of his album and it's pretty good. The new version is the mail. You can hear full samples on his myspace: http://www.myspace.com/antonioeltiti

Arash -> RE: Juan Carlos Gomez - new CD? (Dec. 17 2009 17:37:51)

yes you are right, sanchis lopez, i just looked at the orange part and and heard the sound [:D]

i liked the fusion. not one of those "cheap" nuevo fusions.
this is great for sunny sundays, when you wake up and are cheerful.
actually, i also hear a lot of modern smooth jazz (without any flamenco guitar in it), so i like these kind of stuff and am open to them.

and thanks for the myspace link, i will check out the rest of the samples

XXX -> RE: Juan Carlos Gomez - new CD? (Dec. 18 2009 9:42:36)

El Titi - whats the story behind his name?
Same with El Tuto. Are they somehow connected to La Tati?

Arash -> Manuel Siveria - Alegrias (Jul. 7 2010 10:47:40)

As he was mentioned in this thread by Conrad, i post this Alegrias which i just discovered.
This guy is really underrated imo.
Extremely soulful playing.
