I knew Straddy in a previous life. He told me his secret was that he urinated all over his wood stash. Something about trace minerals in his piss that made the wood more resonant, as well as lending a slight iridescence when varnish was applied. That crazy Antonio - the boy was nuts but in retrospect, he was definitely onto something.

one theory has it that preceeding stradivarius was a cyclical cold spell that allowed the german spruce to grow slower and thus have tighter gain and all that goes along with a tight grain. it is this cyclical cold spell that gave the old guy some really great wood. since we are in a cyclical warm spell one could surmize that the violins of the future may not be so great.
