Jon Boyes -> One of those 'wow' moments... (Sep. 20 2004 9:49:36)

At the end of a particularly busy week (gigs on four consecutive nights), last night I was playing at the local 'Jazz Cafe' (which in case you're wondering, doesn't take the 'jazz' bit too seriously [:D]).

Its a late nighter, and always hard work as I'm playing on stage in this small nightclub with people getting more drunk and noisy as the night wears on. Very scary at times!

Anyway, there I was very tired and in mid -solo when this stunning blonde walks up the stage, smiles at me, says something *unintelligible in a thick Spanish accent, and puts some money at my feet (*unitelligible because I have a 12" Yamaha speaker a couple of feet from my left ear blasting out).

I nodded and smiled appreciatively without stopping and to my amazement when I finished the number, I found she had tipped me fifteen quid! (thats about 27 dollars).

I looked around for her in my break to thank her properly, but she was nowhere to be found. She obviously tipped me on her way out. Judging by the accents I heard, there seemd to be a large Spanish contingent in the club last night for some reason

Wow, I thought. I may be knackered and overdoing the cheesy rumba, but someone clearly likes it..

Maybe what she said was: " Look, here's fifteen pounds towards some decent flamenco lessons so you can stop playing that rumba crap." LOL! [:D]

Jon

No Jon, it's an old gitano(a?) tradition, means she's just bought you and that's a sub for your stag night.
