So you have already Merengue DVD part ii??? That is about as concise as you can get for having all the main basic melodies. From there you just have to dig in deep, compare the same palo for many different singers. Study one at a time. It will take many years unfortunately, and money spent on recordings, there are no short cuts to listening to music. Be thankful for that merengue compilation. I also have a "guide to Andalusian flamenco", they have one in English and in Spanish, the people at Andalucia.org. Not sure if you can still get that travel guide, but it had 2 CD's with tons of exemplary cantes....yeah each one is about 30 seconds to a minute. Again, exemplary versions don't tell the whole story so you have to compare to other singers. Sorry man, that is why aficionados of cante are quite proud to know their singing even though it is just about their record collection. Another one is the Magna Antalogia collect of CDs.
