Munin -> Joining the dance accompaniment squad (Oct. 27 2009 10:37:26)

So I've settled down here in HK in the past 2 months, man I haven't posted in ages... [:D]

But anyway I barely had time to do anything guitar-wise in the last 2 months, but now I freed up some time to make appointments with a local flamenco guitar teacher. Now I have no idea whether he's any good, but he has some dance accompaniment classes starting this Sunday. So basically I'll have a lesson with him preparing me for that on Thursday, and then I'm gonna actually play with him on Sunday.

I've lost so much repertoire and general skill in the past 2 months that this seems rather daunting for me. And I'm kinda scared. But I also feel that this is going to be extremely valuable to me. Never had any accompaniment classes whatsoever before. So no matter what happens I'll just dive in and do it...

I'll let you know how it goes...

Sounds awesome. I like the idea of the lesson/prep on Thursday. I feel tired just practicing a few falsettas. I can't imagine being able to play long enough for one dancing song.

sounds like you're getting a two in one deal.

Thanks guys!

Met my teacher yesterday now and he's a fantastic guy. I had, in the worst case, expected some self-proclaimed "flamenco" guitarist who really just dabbled in it on the side, but he's a fantastic player, having taken lessons from Nino de Pura among others. And he made it clear that I still have many weaknesses in terms of basic compas that I need to work on. But I look forward to doing so!

Let's see how Sunday goes now...gonna do some beginner tangos, shouldn't be too difficult...I hope...
