Malagueña falsetas from Ramón Montoya, Niño Ricardo and Paco de Lucía that arpeggiate over the siguiriyas rhythm:

http://www.ctv.es/USERS/norman/malsig.htm

I've been working on arpeggios lately, and these patterns are a lot of fun. Paco's falseta, from En La Caleta, is amazing in every sense. I checked my transcription against a tab that I found, and was able to correct a couple of things I'd overlooked, so I think I've got it pretty well nailed now.

If anyone knows of any more falsetas like these, please let me know and I'll try to include them. I've looked for something similar from Sabicas but haven't found anything. Maybe Mario Escudero or Serranito...?

Very cool!
How did you pick out the seguiriyas rhythm? Unless I listen very very closely all I hear is kind of a mass of notes. But I know that after you listen to something many times you start to notice things.
I love seeing how these things evolve over time. Of course Paco's version is always a big leap forward [:D]

EDIT on second listen it became much more clear [:)]

Hi Andy,

Glad you like it. I'd been listening to all three versions for over 10 years, but only noticed the rhythm when I heard a friend play his own version of the idea. He played a lot of Sabicas, Ricardo and Paco, and was even close to all three, and I asked him about it one day. But he never told me about those recordings! [:D]

Hee Norman,
last week I made a 10 minute collection of malaguenas arpeggio's from the Anthologia collection, I just love them.

The file is 15mb...I can sent it to you if you like?
Or anyone else ofcourse, just sent me your email adress.

Hi Remco,

Thanks for the offer, but it's too big for any of my e-mail accounts (there's a limit to the file size that I can send or receive).

What anthology are they from, a malagueñas anthology (Diego Clavel?) or a general anthology like Magna?
