Thanks for the post John.

Thats really very sad news. I´m very sorry.

I want to thank you for writing this beautifull post mortem on the Delcamp forum. I know how important Rolf was for you and some other Granada builders. I can imagine that you are very sad right now. But you have been lucky John. Almost sharing workshop with Rolf for so many years.

I myself was lucky enough to know Rolf. Not the way you and others knew him, but enough to really appreciate his caracter. He was a special man, who really lived what he did. He was a very kind person as well when you accepted his way of being. Even when I was very new in the guitar building world, he always treated me with respect. I was very gratefull for that. It meant a lot to me.

I havent seen Rolf since I moved away from Granada a little more than 2 years ago and I didn´t know about his cancer.

I hope he left us without to much pain. His guitars will keep him with us for the time to come.

Anders

rest in peace, Rolf !

During my career I played 3 of his marvelous classical guitars and still own a absolutely wonderful flamenco guitar made by him in 1993
He was a unique person and luthier, gruff at times, more often nice and enriching - I will miss him !

Thomas

A beautifully written epitaph, John, as a grieving close friend would post. My heartfelt condolances, along with a silently respectful prayer.

I learned a little about the life of the guitarreros from my friendship with Anders and Stephen Hill during my stay in Andalucia; so a loss of one them is all the greater for me. They cannot be replaced easily but their work lives on.
