hi there guys, just noticed this patch of greyish/bluish/greenish patch on my soundhole.. is it guitar rot?

should i get to the guitar repair shop to get it sanded off?
oh the guitar is french polished..

It seems to me that the damage is done by the strings rattling against the soundboard, the coloration indicates as much. I had the same problem in the days that I played the lute, but the guitar has a fingerboard which elevates the strings considerably so this would be an exceptional case. Maybe things will become more clear when you post a picture of the whole guitar from the side.

The polish has warn back to the wood that colouration looks to me like a mixture of sweat and rust from the strings that has been soaked up by the wood. a light sand and polish touch up is in order.

Don´t understand your problem completely. But its for sure due to your thumbmovement when you do rasguados with the other fingers. Its normal and doesn´t need to be fixed. You could watch your thumb when playing and change your handposition a little to not gring into the soundhole with your thumb while playing.
