Rob -> Paco, Vicente and Carlos Juan... (Aug. 18 2004 7:45:45)

Carlos makes pickups for flamenco guitars as well as other types of guitars. I just stumbled across his website:

Very expensive! [&o] But used by PDL and VA. Anyone here used one? They are for sale in the UK at www.hanksguitars.com or .co.uk (can't remember).

No, I saw those a while back, yes very expensive. And Vicente is a nice endorsee. But I wonder if these things are just luxury items made for rich people? I've never known any musicians that use them or have even heard of them.

By the way, Rob are you the "lutester" fellow on that character MO's livejournal?

I don't know. Do you have an url?

Never heard of them, Rob.

Yes, 200 quid is a little expensive for an under saddle transducer - I paid £110 to have a Fishman system installed on one of my classical guitars (undersaddle pckup plus Powerjack preamp).

However in the grand scheme of things (pickups), its cheaper than having a blender system installed (thats undersaddle tranducer + internal condenser mic + onboard preamp/mini mixer) which I think is the ultimate solution if your budget can take it. (Eg Fishman Pro Blender).

I'm still intrigued by Kate's stick-on pick up, though. Would be very useful to have something you can just bung on to whatever guitar whenever you need it.

That's the idea, and to make it cheap enough that when your dancer stands on it you dont throw a wobbly. I'm trying to persuade Harold to makeup a batch for starters, and do the tests he has been talking about. Trouble is getting him out of the studio long enough.

Kate
