kozz -> New chair (Jul. 30 2009 1:56:55)

Today my new ergonimic chair arrived.
I was (am) still suffering from serious backinjuries and really had a hard time playing the guitar and go to work (perhaps I should mention it the otherway arround in case my boss sees this), because sitting was no option.

Now with this chair it feels like never before. It straightens my back and it feels like I have less tention in my neck and backbone.
It's a chair with a horseback saddle, which forces the knees to get apart and it straightens my back.

I am very please with it and I've tried to play guitar and it feels good.
Now its time to adapt to the traditional posture since before I was sitting cross-legged, but it feels natural.

Hopefully this works out well, but for the moment I am really pleased with it already, and I am very happy to be able to pickup the guitar again.

Cheers
kozz

Looks great!

The only thing I don't like about it is that it reminds me of my dentist [:o]

[:D] [:D]
or just like your pedicurist [:D]

It's used a lot indeed by dentists and all those sitting/standing halfway jobs....

There is missing the thing where you can rest your back... They fooled you I tell you.. I hope you only paid half of the price...

Eh?

I've never heard of that before.

All the dentists up here have long reclining chairs and carry out all dental work with the paitient in a 30 degree position or so.

Is this a Continental thing?

The last time I sat in a chair like that was in Tromso (Norway) in "The Cowboy Bar" where all the barstools were shaped like that.. (probably to help stop the customers falling off [:D])

cheers,

Ron

cool chair! but im also confused about the no back support thing.

you've got a nice, stylish looking place too!

ron, he meant the chairs the dentists sit on, not the evil reclining scary ones for the patients.

Im thinking he means by the actual dentist not by the patient!! maybe[&:]

Yeah maybe so...
I must admit I never look or notice..
I'm just looking up at the light and trying to get myself into some other universe.. [:D]

A few years ago I tried an experiment by refusing any local anaesthetic and just taking it "a la natural"....and I must admit that it wasn't all that bad apart from a few twinges of intense pain every so often that was over in a second or two.

The luxury was that you left the surgery feeling perfectly normal, instead of that horrible numb feeling that lasts for a few hours.

These days I'm too lazy to be bothered getting myself psyched up and in the mood.. and just take the shots...but the Dentists keep looking at my notes and saying "Oh...you don't like anaesthetic...do you?"

"Nah, forget that sh*t....Just fill me up thaar chief"[:D]

cheers,

Ron

oo-er!!! Did you buy the chair from 'Bondage toys r us'?

cathulu -> RE: New chair (Jul. 30 2009 17:01:06)

Lord that chair looks uncomfortable!

Interesting, when they told you not to slouch and sit-up straight, turns out they analyzed forces on the back and the least pressure on the back is slouching!

Anyways, I find without a decent lower back support I get back pains playing guitar. Everyone is different so whatever floats your boat is good!

They fooled me indeed....I had the chair with backsupport and an extra tumbling mechanismn etc so I made a phonecall to this company if I got everything...and than it started....
"If you want to have back support you need to have also the other tubling mechanism etc and the prices are without taxes...."
So I decided to go without backsupport (it is indeed now half the price :) since I'll use this chair mainly for sitting behind my desk.
This way of sitting is called active-sitting and is good for me because muscles on one site of my backbone are way weaker than the other site. I admit, it is not a relaxing chair.

At_leo-87, thanks. My furniture is mostly from my parents which I repainted or put some new knobs on doors etc. I like the combination of old and modern.

Well Ron, believe me, it is possible....especially if you forget there is no backsupport this time [:D]

[:D] Yep, it came with a free latex nurse dress.

Well, it is not a relaxing chair in a way you normally would relax. But I really feel the difference in my shoulders and neck.
The only time I felt relaxed in my neck and shoulders was last year when I had to take Valium (I really liked that medicine), and now they are becoming relaxed just because of a different posture.
