My soldering iron has a digital readout in Celsius, so I could experiment with the temperature settings versus IR luminosity. Anyway 127°C is just above the boiling temperature of water and certainly wouldn't melt solder. I had a look to see the exhaust temp of a helicopter jet engine and it's around 700°C, so I guess you wouldn't hold your hand up to it to check if the engine was working OK. [:D] cheers, Ron
