Wow Flo that looks amazing! You said you were getting lots of work atm, do you think that's because of that big gig you did recently? Getting your name better known?

Ok, question flo, where would your rather see paco play??? in a cafe, or a concert hall? I am proud of you flo and though I think it's bitchen (great) that you are playing in a concert hall, well, you get the drift.....

I prefer to see music played in a cafe than a concert hall. Is it me, or do I enjoy the atmosphere better, and love the coffe drinks??? I don't know. Somehow you can always meet some girl and talk all night, socialize or just drift to the music, and the atmosphere is warm, and it's always open late!!!

That's a big question, so where would you rather perform??? I know success is bitchen, but???

Being close and informal with your audience is a plus. Though you can reach out to a lot of people in a concert hall all at once.....it's the one question that audiences, and performers talk about that always intrigues me. I get a feeling out of small venues that blows the concert hall away. It's a night out on the town in two very different places.....you know!!!
Gary
Of course you can always go to a cafe before/after the auditorium! [:D]
EDIT: I like to be captivated by a performance too! And you can chat with the performer, or even take in a nice meal before the performance, or late after the show.......things like that. No tickets to buy, perhaps a cover charge at the door...

Florian -> RE: Very exciting change of scenery (Jul. 10 2009 19:27:12)

ofcourse mate...id rather see it in a cafe or small intimate theatre..i didnt organise this lol u know just show up and play..we fortunate to be asked

and besides the setting might be different...that picture i found on the internet from something else..in the same venue..they can change stuff around and move stage wherever they want, enclose it etc.....so i imagine it will be more intimate...and they have big monitors

i dont know what to expect, every show is setup different

but i cant say i am not excited by the size lol...u know u always wonder what it would be like...its nice to be able to say i played there...they got the latest best equiped gadgets etc....thats the reason why i most excited about it..its not like i am moving in there and doing shows there all the time or like i paid for it

i was just reading whos on next at the entertainment ctre and its Pink, David coperfield, Beyonce, Black Eye Peas, Liza Minelly, Andrew Reu.etc. i wanna see where this people spend time before they go on stage...its kind of cool to see the backstage of it and aalso courious to see what kind of microphones they have ...and what the changing rooms look like and how the stars live..and do they get the soft toilet paper or the recycled crap we get...the litlle kid in me is excited

btw. this dosent mean that i am more succesfull then last week or last year just means this week we are fortunate to perform in a cool place...i am sure wel do many more dumps again [:D]..eg. where we were last night

when i was sixteen i used to work there as a waiter...used to service the corperate boxes...i loved that job everytime i went to work i saw famous people/ shows ..the least boring job i ever had

gato -> RE: Very exciting change of scenery (Jul. 10 2009 20:08:23)

All very nice! And I wish you all of the success!!! I think I am getting the itch to go down to San Anselmo and meet my lady and see a show at the local cafe. I use to love going to the Cafe Nuvo there in the 1980's. There were a lot of punks and new wave types there and you could just about see any kind of person there. The local cafe there is still much the same now I think. And of course there was the Cafe Copa in San Rafael. It was outrageous because you could drink there and try to get the waitresses attention by ordering lots of brews. One night I was so drunk in that place, I could hardly walk out out the door. I remember the 80's still after all of that indulgence, the rock clubs, and of course my fave which was riding home in someone elses car! You make a lot of sense in a car when you're drunk late at night, especially when you aint driving! Marin has and has had a lot of venues........Cafe nuvo was also known as the cafe pseudo [:D] There was a really great Spanish restaurant in downtown San Rafael which showcased Flamenco. And that was in the 80's Marin is soon to become mostly hispanic if the latino population keeps growing. I dig it. 'Lot of cool people and culture.....

Amazing just amazing. Local venues 'lotta fun! [:D]

Oh well I wasn't getting down on ya, I just hate going to a concert hall and being herded in like cattle, and feeling like a stranger.

Florian -> RE: Very exciting change of scenery (Jul. 10 2009 20:13:37)

lol sounds good

no problem man i know..actual theatres are always better for this sort of thing...but who knows that the plan is...since i never playd there before i dont know what to expect

il know in **** !!4 hours [:o]

i should probably warm up cause i spent the whole morning talking about how great it is to play there [:D]

gato -> RE: Very exciting change of scenery (Jul. 10 2009 20:14:48)

cool!

gato -> RE: Very exciting change of scenery (Jul. 10 2009 20:18:53)

Be sure and celebrate now.......

Kate -> RE: Very exciting change of scenery (Jul. 13 2009 7:13:13)

Well Florian if you have recovered from your busy weekend we want to know how it all went. Interesting contrast between the two venues. Fantastic experience. Hope you got some pics.

I totally agree with you, but where do you think PACO would rather play? [:D][:D]

Flo, "good on ya mate" (is that what y'all say down there?[&:]), I don't think you have sold out or anything. [:)]

Hope you got some video.

Florian -> RE: Very exciting change of scenery (Jul. 13 2009 15:34:41)

it was greate[:D], it was a private function so it was setup more corperate...the side seats were all covered by black material, so u couldnt see it..but they had 2 of those big projectors and keped getting distracted looking at my hands on the big screan as they were filming and projecting at the same time ..

only managed to get photos of the changing room lol..we didnt exactly plan this well...we were all on stage at the same time, there was noone to take the photo..i tought about taking a photo in the midlle of a set but...it would have been too unprofessional lol

but there were photographers...maybe the photos come up somehow

yup its what we say [:D][:D] chears mate

we didnt film anything..but there were cameras so i dont know if it was just for the live projectors or someone was taping too..i doubt il ever see those cause all those guys have to do everything 100% legal since they deal with all the big names they would be pretty strict on showing any material outside ..

when the lady came to escort us from the changing room to the stage she asked...do you know your way around..i without thinking replied " Yes but remind me again [8D]" she craked up

but u do feel very far away from the audience..however i discovered i was more relaxed cause i couldnt see anyfaces, u feel like you do at home by yourself when u know noone is watching relaxed...and had lights and spotlight right in my eyes so i was warm ( that was good since its winter) and couldnt see anything past the lights

it was fun...anyway back to my matchbox restaurant this friday [:D] thats the first photo
