Just a quick line to say that Estela has been awarded the yearly prize for journalism at La Union. Can't think of anyone more deserving of it for her dedication to flamenco and
her unselfishness in sharing her up-front experiences and knowlege with so many of us
over the years. Preciosa!!

Jim.

Excellent news!
Great stuff Estela, and many heartfelt thanks for sharing your knowledge on the Forum.
You add a lot of depth to the subject that we guitar oriented folk would never find out about.

cheers

Ron

I finally got a breather and was able to do some surfing...what a surprise to find all these friendly messages, thank you everyone...it makes a welcome counterbalance to flamencodisc where I hear the prize was hailed as a hoax [8D].

Some people here will be interested to know that tonight is the end of the semifinals at La Unión, and the young whiz-kid Javier Conde, about 15 with a first record already under his belt, is competing. I think he's everyone's emotional favorite because he's so young and works so hard, but the other guitar competitors (Antonio Cáceres and Jesús María García, both from Córdoba, Cayetano Morena from Cartagena and Marco Antonio Duque from Ciudad Real) were outstanding...the level of flamenco guitar is so high these days.

I sent in reports of the five concerts that preceded the actual contest and the translations are going up daily at www.deflamenco.com/indexi.jsp

I haven't had a hot meal since I left home 8 days ago (unless you count Capullo's tasty and nourishing bulerías), the mini-bar is getting a workout and I'm wondering how I'm going to survive the Bienal... Anyone coming to Sevilla for that?

Estela 'Zata'
