Chiste de Gales -> Rodriguez FF model. Good value? (Jun. 18 2009 7:20:10)

I play one at Guitar Center every time I'm there just to see if I like a blanca.
I do like it, and keep thinking about buying it. Right now I only have classical guitars and I have one Id probably trade in (a Dauphin DS45) to finally get a flamenco guitar.

They are asking $900. As far as other store's prices, GC is offering the cheapest. But Im not sure that instrument is worth it or not.

Is this a good value?

Hi Chiste: In my experience the quality of Manuel Rodriguez’ guitars has degenerated to the present product which is absolutely not worth the retail dollar value.

I had a couple of them and recently tried their latest production both in NY and SF (Guitar Center).

On the other hand, I have played, enjoyed and recommended Francisco Navarro, made in Mexico. Its student model blanca is much of a true flamenco at the same price. You may need to wait for a couple of months for the instrument to be built, but for the same $900 and the instrument you will have, it is worth the wait.

See “student model 1” at http://www.lafalseta.com/navarro_flamencos.html

Tom Nunez, who runs la Falseta on line store, and an active member on this Forum, is a knowledgeable musician and the nicest gentleman you could find in this often tricky trade.
I hope this helps and good luck.

The FF was one of my first guitar when I first started. It has classical setup (high bridge) Save your money and a used Hnos Sanchis Lopez blanca or a Navarro from La Falseta. These are real flamenco guitars.

Suerte, Don

Playing this acoustically as recorded through an external microphone (Shure VP88) into my audio interface with subtle processing (EQ, compression, reverb, noise reduction).

Purchase here: https://www.mrguitarras.com/en/producto/ff-sabicas-cutaway/
