[:D] during my last week end practice sessions i felt the need to work more with scales again and scale-arpegio's over the whole neck and jump into the corresponding chords, then i saw jg7238's upload, well i felt approved [:D]. doing fast scale-moves over the fretboard is really hot, for all styles!

Hello everyone... I just want to start off by saying that I studied with the Venezuelan Guitarrist Ruben Riera and Carlos Barbosa Lima. To be honest, I do not have a set practice routine now, I just play. Maybe I'll do a scale and arpeggio pattern for very short time to warm up. But going back a few years ago I would start off with a book called Elements of technique for guitar by Barbosa Lima and John Griggs. It is a Mel bay edition. The book covers exercises for right hand development, such as arpeggios just using open strings; slur exercises (left hand). There are great exercises also using two lines in opposite movement, polyphonic studies, a chromatic octave study which is pretty cool. Then I would use one of Abel Carlevaro's scale books to practice scales both free and rest stroke which are really good. I would use I,M M,A, I,A alternating then starting with the alternate finger. I would play in triplets using different patterns such as IMA, AMI, IAM etc... I would finish playing in groups of 4 . I hope this helps in some way. Thnx and wish you all the best.
