Hola

It would be quite interesting to know the primary interests of members: i.e. Cante, guitar, baile, palmas, jaleo. But I don't know how to iniciate a poll.

Its quite eazy, under general there "New Poll" or "Post Poll" then just experiment with that...u can edit it i think..

as far as the question..i dont know i am interested in all of them, none is less or more important, i would have them all togheder..sounds like the perfect recepie for the perfect athmosphere...anyone of those elements would be missed

But i guess beeing a guitarist it would be silly of me to say my primary interest is cante...however when i am in the mood to listen to flamenco i dont listen to solo guitar cds i listen to cante albums ( i listen to guitar albums when i am looking for a falseta on idea or something soft in the background), as much as i love guitar alone it dosent dosent give me the full flamenco experience..theres no comparasement...regardless who playing...

i havent yet heard a solo buleria that makes me feel the way a nicely sung letra of bulerias makes me feel..but i would never ever say that any one is more or less important then the other...the singing wouldnt have that effect on me if it wasent for the guitar...and add palmas and jaleos and a dancers feet in there and to me its perfect

infact thats why my favourite things to listen to is sountracks from dance dvds...because they have all the elements ( i have them all extracted as audio files in my computer) i cant get enough of them..the studio produced athmosphere would never be able to compete with the soundtrack of a real show to me for athmosphere

whats yours btw ? i know u nuts about the cante but i am not sure it ever came up...do you play too ?

Hola Florian

When I lived in Ireland I co-founded the Peña Flamenca, and accompanied dance in all our shows (we had no singer[:@]).

When I moved to Cádiz, I played in dance classes for a couple of professional teachers but abandoned it to accompany cante. My great friend, José Millán, was the most complete cantaor in Cádiz and I accompanied him in many juergas, baptisms, weddings etc. He taught me to accompany many strange things, such as marianas, romeras, mirabrás, caña, polo etc.

Sadly José died last year and his death affected me greatly. I have now sold one guitar and stored away the other. (Wanna buy a cheap Gerundino????¿¿¿¿)I am working in the studio to compile a CD of the live cante of José, which I can give to his friends and family, and to the Centro Flamenco as a historical document. I have managed to compile Alegrías de Cádiz, Fandangos de Macandé y de la Gloria, Caracoles, Malagueña de el Mellizo, Tientos/Tangos, Bulerías de Cádiz, Romeras, Soleares, Mirabrás.

Quality is not great, but it is a valuable document for his family and for the history of flamenco in Cádiz.

I hope to finish mixing it next week, but it will not be for sale.

Suerte

Sean
