No, not apple pie..[8D]

I mean the foot tap accents. In Graf Martinez' Book 2, he dedicates a big section to playing various compas with various foot accents. Some of the more intense compas sections are difficult to do while concentrating on what my foot is doing. Is the foot really used by the guitarist on stage? I was under the impression that the folks doing palmas or even the bailaores took care of the foot work.

I would say that it is pretty important. You should be able to feel and keep the compas and not have to rely on the palmeros. It is difficult at first but you will get used to it if you practice it enough. Just go to youtube and check out videos of all the pro players. You can see that they can all keep the compas with their foot.
