Güiro -> La guitarra flamenca de Chicuelo Solea question (May 13 2009 21:10:13)

In his solea there is a part defined as solea baile. What makes this part for baile? Is it the heavy use of rasgueado?

The fact it is made to be played at a super slow but steady tempo. Later he goes through what would be the different sections of the baile, such as when it speeds up to SolxBul and Bulerias tempos. He does the same deal with the Taranto.

Ricardo

Absolutely wonderful, the book!

That solea baile part is great, I've used the first 4 compás as an intro falseta or an escobilla intro, works wonderfully.

And Chicuelo is really one of my favorites. You can get some great ideas from albums he accompanies on as well, Duquende, Juaneke etc.

yes his really great yet , i suppose he hasnt god the name as some of the others ?? mind you im in Tibet what do i know [:-]

there is a concert of him playing with 2 singers, i cant remeber the name of the video i remember its under lights, and there are flys flying about everywhere,, yet he plays stunningly well, remebering thats its live.

his ideas are really great yet tradional not as say, polytonal as say some of requeni pieces

That's a great one too, with Duquende and Poveda, Qawwali-Flamenco. Not all flamenco though, traditional Pakistani music is on it as well.

I also really dig the Juaneke album and "Mi Forma de Vivir" from Duquende.

Thanks Ricardo. That makes sense. I wish he would have pointed that out. Sometimes I feel there is more going on than I realize.
