Anders Eliasson -> canoe blog (May 3 2009 1:22:19)

I´m building a canoe.

If you are interested, you can follow it here:

The drawing looks nice, it's like an upgraded version of Winnetoe's kajak.
How big the sailes are going to be in m2?

Pgh_flamenco -> RE: canoe blog (May 3 2009 14:22:13)

Canoe? Looks more like a Viking ship. Paint a serpent on the side and a dragon on the sail and you'll be ready to raid local villages.

Anders Eliasson -> RE: canoe blog (May 3 2009 19:55:29)

I dont think I will put a sail on it. The area is around 3,5m2
Viking ships were basically large clinker built canoes

edguerin -> RE: canoe blog (May 4 2009 11:04:12)

great!

That's what I thought too. Really looks great! [:)]

Although I would argue that its tone may not be as good as an all-solid wood canoe.

Well, I finished it:

Congratulations!
what a beautiful canoe, i also like the color!
have much fun with it.

kozz -> RE: canoe blog (Jun. 12 2009 6:48:12)

A beauty she is....assuming she is a she ofcourse.
Is that the same paint as on the capo you've made for the challenge?

GuitarVlog -> RE: canoe blog (Jun. 12 2009 6:52:57)

Beautiful!

edguerin -> RE: canoe blog (Jun. 12 2009 8:40:04)

superb!

(no icon for envy ....)

Escribano -> RE: canoe blog (Jun. 12 2009 10:14:15)

That is so sweet, well done. I always wanted one for the embalsa in Restabal but the water was evaporating more every year and the rocks started to show through.

p.s. a name in white lettering would look good - "el guitarrero" or "fandango" maybe [;)]

Anders -

Really nice, but I still don't see where the wings attach??? :)

Regards,
Jeff

Ole! Nice work Anders. Happy paddling, eh?!

Ron.M -> RE: canoe blog (Jun. 12 2009 12:54:24)

Yeah, it looks elegant and I really like the colour!
Great stuff Anders, you really pay attention to form and detail.

Ahem...

Is this just a forerunner to your next project? [:D]

It turned out well. That is a great looking canoe.

Where did you learn to do all this stuff? I can weld, paint and repair cars and do most types of construction work, but I don't do much work with wood.

mrMagenta -> RE: canoe blog (Jun. 15 2009 13:51:41)

I admire people with the drive to do these sorts of projects. That's a sweeeet looking canoe!

cathulu -> RE: canoe blog (Jun. 15 2009 19:08:33)

Nice canoe! That stirs this Canadian's heart... have you thought about a Kayak next?

Anders Eliasson -> RE: canoe blog (Jun. 30 2009 23:41:34)

Thanks for all the nice words.

Next will be sails. I´m from an island. I raced in optimist dinghys as a kid and later I toured around in wooden yachts.
Some kind of dinghy it´ll be. But it´ll take me a loooong time to build it. It´ll be clinker build
