First Problem:
They ask me for a "Power of Attorney" document to bring it through customs, after almost 30 mins on the phone with a variety of nimrods I talk to a manager who says its their mistake, they don't need one. Who in their right mind would give a courier company a Power of Attorney?!?!?!

Nealf,

On Monday of this week I shipped a guitar to Japan via UPS and they required that I sign a "power of attorney" for customs. There are such things as limited power of attorney and that's what this is. They can't use it to access your bank account. All it does is allow them to negotiate with customs on your behalf. I consider it a benefit.

Stephen Eden -> RE: Fedex Suckx (Mar. 27 2009 1:26:23)

I just sent a guitar Via Fedex. Arrived the next day no problems.

KenK -> RE: Fedex Suckx (Mar. 27 2009 7:27:11)

I've heard that FedEx might be going under soon.
This may be an unsubstantiated rumor.

A friend of mine has a guitar shop in Berkeley Ca. He imports guitars from a maker in Paracho ,Mex and ships to customers everywhere.

He avoids FedEx like the plague.
Too many broken guitars and nightmares w/ insurance claims.

He uses UPS now, but his fav was DHL.
They stopped doing either "domestic" shipping or working w/ small companies or he'd still use them.

Ken

I heard the CEO of Fedex explain they successfully deliver over 99% of shipments without issue.

"That is an enviable level of efficiency"
"Yeah, that just leaves 35,000 a day that get undelivered, delayed or damaged"

lol this forum is better than the comedy network or any reality show!! Whats the average age on here? 18? [:D]

nealf that really sucks just be happy you got your guitar. but you're wasting your time fighting fedex you ain't gonna win so just quit relax and accept it. it'd be easier to get a refund from a hooker. [;)]

kovachian are we reading the same thread? Dude what in hemeloman's post is helpful? [8|] I guess its true that common sense isn't so common, I just cannot resist getting in the middle of this! lol

Patient: I got this hacking cough
Doctor: yes I see that often in overweight older men who are chain smokers
patient: but I'm 25, a varsity athlete and never smoked a day in my life
doctor: like I said old age and smoking
patient: but I'm not old nor do I smoke
doctor: I'm the doctor and I've got plenty of experience I'm telling you that this is caused by old age and smoking
patient: this doctor is clueless about my case
kovachian: the doctor was being helpful! He was giving you other perspectives. you patient are a dumb ass.

yeah ok kovachian you're a genius! I guess everyone should welcome additional perspectives that got nothing to do with the original specific issue.
oops I guess I'm on your ignore list too now! thats a shame! [8D]

hemeloman are you for real dude? like now you're saying you could get the guy a refund? why didn't you do that first post? now that would've been helpful. But then it wouldn't have been as entertaining! [:D]

Thanks for the laughs! lol [:D]

kovachian, lol awesome ... dude I was hoping you'd reply, this is good entertainment .... I'm surprised I'm not on your ignore list thought. [:D] props for that.

Its cowardly to post your piece and then end it with "thats all I have to say" and bow out. [8|] Thats a sign of someone who knows they have a weak defense. Wheres the fun in that? If you're gonna debate this with me then put your balls on the table and take the smack.

why should I pm you? did you pm the original poster? no, you posted your (lack of) logic in the public domain. If you want to dish it then learn to take it too. This is going to be fun .... [8D]

here you go dude a point by point rebuttal:

quote:

Hemleoman says: FedEx requires more specifics than does UPS. Included in that is the particular aspect that deals with fees and charges and the release of a package from customs to fedex. this takes time to process, and if something wasn't declared in a very specific way it can take time to investigate, and sometimes this results in a delay between the transfer from customs to fedex.

where did nealf (the original poster) state that "fedex required more specifics" or that "there was a problem with the declaration" or "there was a problem with the paperwork"?? Please excerpt his posts coz from what I read he repeatedly points out that there was no problem with the paperwork, in fact Fedex never even told him that.
i.e. hemelomans post was ... pointless, i.e. unhelpful.

quote:

hemelomans says: In this way, it is not custom's fault that the package was declared as it was, and it is not fedex's fault that the process of discovery takes as long as it does either. there are very specific things which need to be written and declared on customms invoices, sometimes things don't quite match up at first.

kovachian exactly where did neal state that "customs delayed his package". In his first post he said:
quote:

Note: Canada customs denied they had anything to do with delaying the package!

In his second post he said:
quote:

I spoke to a Fedex service manager today and now they claim that it was not a customs delay

i.e. hemelomans post was ... pointless, i.e. unhelpful.

In fact Hman is really unhelpful (coz instead of trying to help the guy get the refund as he claims he can in his last post (highly doubtful) he just was a jackass. Didn't even offer to help the dude out. So why say he could've helped when he didn't even offer that help right away. thats jackass behaviour. period. The dude obviously works for fedex coz he jumps to their defense every chance he gets. [8|]

I eagerly await your rebuttal. Bring it on! [8D] And don't pm me post it here, if you pm me I'll just call you a coward and post your pm in this thread! [:D] lmao

p.s. do you actually own a dictionary or did you just google it? Look up this one "defeat" and "illogical". Then apply both to yourself. lol this is so much fun! [:D]

Ricardo -> RE: Fedex Suckx (Mar. 28 2009 15:17:59)

I admit, this thread was mildly entertaining at first. The word "sucks" does spark most people's interest I say. It escalated with the rather rude "chill out". "Pompous pr!ck and "i could have gotten his money back..." kept the ball rollin. Now with the intro of the new poster blue_b, it has gotten up to popcorn status. And seeing how blue and hemi are both from Chicago, perhaps they know each other?.....even more entertaining!

Can't wait.

Jim Opfer -> RE: Fedex Suckx (Mar. 28 2009 15:58:21)

Mmmm...! I don't know if Fedex are that bad.
I remember seening a tv documentary or might have been a documentary film or something about a Fedex plane goes down and the guy ends up on a remote island somewhere and he only has a few things to keep him alive but his dedication to his job and the Fedex training sees him through the ordeal so that he can deliver the last few remaining bits of mail to their destination. I mean, that can't be bad?[:D]

Gummy -> RE: Fedex Suckx (Mar. 28 2009 18:48:55)

Hi Jim,
I think that was a movie with Tom Hanks.

HemeolaMan -> RE: Fedex Suckx (Mar. 28 2009 22:36:41)

Castaway was the movie. Wilson the volleyball way my favorite character. [:)]

Anyway, I'm quite done here, popcorn not necessary. No interest in arguing. he's blocked me, thats that, we all move on happy etc. could've been worse, glad it wasn't, good show all.

ForoFLAMENCO lol.

This is going to be fun

bule,

I hope not.

While a good discussion on the Forum is welcome, an argument just for the sake of argument it is not.

Try to avoid inflamatory stuff like "you are a .... etc etc", as that is against our posting rules here.

The Forum is mainly to discuss Flamenco, however nobody minds some lively off topic stuff as long as it doesn't become heated or nasty.

Everyone here is bound by those rules, so you are too.

The discussion has been interesting, but is starting to get a bit overheated now.

So I'm asking everyone to tone it down a bit or just leave it alone if you feel you can't.

Thanks.

cheers,

Ron
