Jeez! this facility is fantastic.
Type in where you want to go, zoom in, drag the yellow man icon over and see the picture.
I'm sitting here looking at a 360 degree pamorama picture of An...... Drive.
Amazing, seems to cover most places in the world.
3D pictures street by street.
Check it out if you haven't already.

Have you tried Google Earth? I fool around on it constantly. I don't have the funds to fulfill my dream of world travel, so Google Earth will have to substitute for the time being.

Ron.M -> RE: Ron - Google maps (Mar. 24 2009 1:41:14)

Yes Jim,
I was playing around with it at the weekend.
It's amazing technology.
I took a stroll all around the village and then had a walk around bits of Glasgow and London.
Fantastic!

Just like "astral travelling" !

They only have the major cities in the US and Europe covered ATM, except for the UK in which they have been most the comprehensive I think.

Soon there will be no need to travel anywhere... [:D]

cheers,

Ron

I actually had never toyed with it.... but I tried and it is absolutely Fantastic, yet in a eerie sort of way, isn't it? I saw (as anyone else can, I suppose) my New York apartment terrace quite closely... a trifle excessively so in fact. I’d better watch out for what I choose to wear on that apparently inexpugnable haven.

Ron.M -> RE: Ron - Google maps (Mar. 25 2009 7:33:25)

Hi gj,

Actually it'll be more fun when the Google get permission to enter folk's houses and go through their rooms and cupboards and drawers etc.

The UK will probably be the first to pass this as a law, as at the moment you are on CCTV as soon as you leave the house, walk down a street, enter a shop, go to a railway or bus station, get on a train or a bus, enter a building... in fact go ANYWHERE (except maybe the toilet and I'm not really sure about that!)

There are also car license plate remote readers, driver recognition systems, credit card transaction trackers, mobile phone location trackers etc etc.

The government also want to pass a law to log and store everybodys emails and phone calls and demand that Facebook and other Social Networking sites pass on all their information to our Intelligence Services and store everybody's Fingerprints, Retinal Scans, DNA and Medical records in a giant database.

Why don't they just put a chip in your head at birth and be done with it? [:D]

cheers,

Ron

Seems you haven't noticed those opaque black scanner disks just at the correct height on men's urinals. I remember reading something about a national avareges survey.

Hi gj,

We took a look for my wife's brother's home in Adelaide. We haven't been there and it made them seem close, not so far away.

I had thought to suggest we could all let each other see where we live by posting a link but I guessed that might not be a good idea?

cheers
Jim

Didn't they?[:-]

Hi Ed,

Well they only had valves (vacuum tubes) when I was born.
The Transistor was still a research project in a lab somewhere.

Maybe that's why I take a while to heat up in the mornings? [:D]

cheers,

Ron

It's pretty far out, man. You can go virtual guitar shopping:

Here's an amusing commentary on the stupidity of the police state:

Eh? Same way you found Ron's chateau; just look up the address of a place you know, or if you can't remember the address exactly, just use the satellite view and zoom in until you find it.

They seem to have done Madrid and Barcelona while everything was closed, it makes some places harder to recognize.

By the way, the other two "Conde" shops cannot be seen because their streets were not photographed. And the hometowns of other important guitarreros in Spain have not yet been done - you can just see their roof. (I can see Kate's roof [;)] ).

No, I mean how did you get it into a link that took me straight to the picture?
I tried to 'copy paste' the top box the first time I checked it out but it didn't work.

Oh, I see. When you're at the page/scene, click on <Send>. Then in the window that pops up, copy the URL. Open up tinyurl.com, and paste the mile-long URL into that to get a manageable one. Then copy that to Foro Flamenco or some other appropriate place.
Let me know if that works for you.
