Hi everyone, Does anyone here own a Jose Rodriguez or has any experience of them?How are they like in terms of 'feel' and sound? Would you compare them the Madrid school (drier and bigger sound) or the more Andalusian guitars (ala Reyes, Rodriguez, Barba etc). Thank you

i dont have any experience with these guitars but out of curiosity, are his guitars the ones that are occassionally listed on ebay for around $1,000?

Could it be that this is the same guitar i had? [:D][:D][:D] I also bought it from ebay, it was labeled as "Negra". Ironically the guy i bought it from was also Iranian! But i dont know how a "real" Jose Rodriguez sounds like, probably good.

Sorry I wasn't more precise about which 'Jose Rodriguez' I was asking about. His full name is Jose Rodriguez Pena and he is considered to be a great builder. Here's his website: http://www.guitarrasjoserodriguez.es/guitarras%20ENGLISH.html

Nice guitars. Had one, but sold it as the ones I'm building are pretty amazing, but I sold 2 other Jose's, one 1A, and one 1A Master (or whatever his top classification is) while I had mine.... Dry, punchy, great action. Muy flamenco.... Images are resized automatically to a maximum width of 800px

I didn't think so, but my friend insists on using hard tension Savarez strings, which I've found makes many guitars sound like a beer can. I don't know why people don't experiment a little. Mine was quite nice. What are they going for now? Just curious......

Tom has them listed as: 1a $4100 1a Especial $6500 But the price is probably slightly higher now due to fluctuations in the Euro/Dollar.

Not sure but I heard from another foro member that Vicente used Jose Rodriguez guitars from Cordoba on his new album. According to the CD jacket on his Paseo de Gracia. I'm sure he probably used a few guitars like PdL etc for recording. If so...Jose Rodriguez will surely be selling a few more guitars this year [:D][:D][;)] Anyone have his album?

Hi avimuno I do not own one but i have played and inspected one a few years ago. I came across a José Rodriguez Peña when i took flamenco guitar lessons. The teacher (a woman) had one of these guitars. The guitar had a nice dry and well defined flamenco sound. The basses were rather strong for a flamenco guitar, allthough the soundhole diameter was only 82mm which is significantly less than usual. The soundboard was only about 2mm thick. As much as i remember the soundboard featured a 5 fan bracing pattern with two closing braces. I remember that some braces were not made of spruce but probably of cedar. The soundbox was quite deep for a flamenca (102mm at the bottom). José Rodriguez Peña flamencas are deffinitely a good choice for any serious player. regards Armando
