I didn’t quit so to get a reaction (but because 'simply and ol’ fashioned upset), but man did I enjoy the balance of this thread. This forum keeps on showing great camaraderie and wonderful humane and caring spirit. Now I too, as competition secretary, will offer my own closing statement to the entertaining Beginners’ competition. “Beginners” was undoubtedly a misnomer. These challengers have shown some skills I would hardly categorize at the beginning stage; and if that were the beginning class, we have raised the bar to a fine level. More importantly many of us have learned a thing or two about flamenco, through this. All of these “superheroes” have served as teachers in this “masters’ class” we called competition. I enjoyed playing along, and I am not sure I could have done any betterthan, if not even as well as you guys did. Batman deserves our praises (Bravo Bravo Bravissimo!!!) for he’s shown us a stimulating rendition of the Falseta at hand. However, each submission helped me understand the piece more accurately in a multidimensional sort of way. Now that the “cat is out of the bag" -and cats seem to have a tendency to find their way out of the bag, don’t they? [Ftnote]- Winners –intermediate and beginners- please contact Tom Nunez at info@LaFalseta.com; as soon as Batman chooses his cejilla, I will know the final bill and settle petty matters with the wonderful Tom so that prizes may ship timely. Footnote: When I asked our “unreliable” friend Florian [lol with the greatest affection you can imagine and exponentially multiplied] to keep me anonymous on the prizes, I explained that I adhered to the wise words “when giving, your left hand shouldn’t know what your right hand does”. Ironically, the same gentleman who said that, also said “there shall be no word spoken in the dark that shan’t come out in the light” [more or less, ‘haven’t been to church in a while; words have taken to fade, but the principle hasn’t]. Now let’s get the Ministry of Culture of Spain involved (I am not really kidding) to sponsor a “ForoFlamenco” reunion in Madrid !!! Edit: Btw.. i did get my share of punishment. One of the files i received contained -and I am sure unknown to the sender- a virus/bug which froze me up for a bit. It is all under control now, the bug's been arrested and is undergoing debriefing at Guatanamo.
