Hi Norman

My link to your invaluable seguiriyas and soleá pages no longer works. Are the no longer available?

Sean

You must be having a very good time with the carnavales and the long etcetera that goes with that!

Hola Norman

Great news about the pages: by keeping these up, you have probably done more for flamenco than any other guiri[:D]

As for Carnaval, many of us are not too keen on what has become a botellón, turning the casco antiguo into one great urinal[:@]

Suerte

Sean

Norman

Have you made a Spanish version of your pages or are you planning to do so?

Most of my friends dont read/speak english.

Hi Anders,

Yes, the whole website is in Spanish and English (links at top of each page), except for the bulería por soleá pages (Spanish only) and the links page (English only).

That granaína was great, hope to see more uploads from you soon!

Sean, thanks for saying that, but there are non-Spanish performing artists who have done (and are doing) far more than I have. Your own efforts to record singers are a step in that direction. I play nearly every day for my own enjoyment, but my whole thing has more to do with analysis. I mean, research is great, but the actual music is a lot more important than some of the tiny details that some researchers seem to enjoy using as the basis for heated debate. It reminds me of a joke:

Musicology Ph.D. student: "Did you know that Joseph Matthias Kracher was on friendly terms with Michael Haydn?"

Intelligent Human: "Big ****ing deal! Who cares?"

Musicology Ph.D. student: "Well, Kracher wrote two settings of the 'Te Deum.' What have you done to contribute to the advancement of Western Civilization?"

Intelligent Human (grabbing student's throat and choking him to death): "This!"

Musicology Ph.D. student: "Gakkkkqq!!!"

So let's hear it for the performers!

ooops you´re right. I didnt see it. Thanks. Your pages are very good. I will se if I can find the time to study them a bit more. And also send the links to some friends

Thanks for the words about the granaina. I will try to record some more stuff next time I see Javier. And maybe together with a female singer as well. Mostly FDH.

I agree. Info is just a tool, depends how you use it. But it is nice to see it presented clear cut, no bs opinions or generalizations, just what it is plain and true specific examples and info in black and white...

Hi Kevin,

Didn't mean to offend you, and I can appreciate your afición. As you know, until very recently flamencology has been about everything BUT a serious and rational analysis of the music. Everyone does what they can, but my point is that the ones who are actually producing the music are doing the most for flamenco and are usually in the best position to know what's right and, in particular, what's coincidence.

As I said, I can appreciate your afición. In fact, it could be said that it wouldn't make much sense for me to criticize an intellectual pursuit of flamenco.[;)]
