Well, it's not like I'm completely insulting Paco or questioning his talent or the like. As this -is- in fact a *discussion* forum, I just find it normal that if you're going to discuss a player, opinions may inevitably vary. Though you probably have a point in that there hasn't really been a "discussion" about Paco here because for most people Paco doesn't need any discussion. [:D] It's just that while I can appreciate the fireworks I may not just really "get" Paco in a musical sense, as Florian has already suggested. I like his stuff with Camaron, but all of his solo work leaves me strangely cold, somehow lacking any emotion or warmth. And it's not like I'm a nazi purist, I like mostly the modern players, Chicuelo and Moraito, Vicente to a lesser degree, I guess you could say I mostly adhere to the lowest common denominator in regards to what people like here - well, except for Paco. I once read someone quoting Chicuelo here on the Foro in discussing certain guitarists (?), something along the lines of "They talk a lot, but say very little". Frankly, Paco falls under that category for me. But then, who knows - when I started out with flamenco I wasn't particularly fond of cante, but now it's just as essential to me as toque, if not more. So I might eventually start to like Paco more as I gain a deeper understanding of flamenco itself.
