Arash -> Tanguillo from Ricardo ? (Jan. 31 2009 13:24:46)

I am just curious.
As far as i know this is the Tanguillo from Ricardos CD which he composed right?
Why doesnt he mention it (at least in the description)?
A little disrespectful no?

It looks like the channel belongs to Mel Bay. Not his fault.

However, Ricardo should pull an MPIAA (SP?) and tell them that if they want to publish his music that he gets royalties. LOL

Gummy -> RE: Tanguillo from Ricardo ? (Jan. 31 2009 20:19:00)

that is definately misleading. It was like a show to prove what an expert he is with flamenco so we will want to read his flamenco book. I wonder how much of his book will address borrowing of ideas in flamenco.

Munin -> RE: Tanguillo from Ricardo ? (Feb. 1 2009 2:26:19)

His book is called "Flamenco Classical Guitar Tradition"

So which one is it? Classical or flamenco? [8|]

i met corey in the sanlucar course in 2007, obviously ricardo and corey know each other.

i dont think people sue each other in flamenco, if it was the case paco could sue everyone for stealing his ideas[:D]

Alright then it should be Ok if they know eachother. I didnt know that they are friends.

I was just a little bit astonished that not even on a side note Ricardos name was mentioned (I mean i would do that if i would upload a complete piece from a friend of mine!!)

Also, as a viewer, if i wouldnt know the fact that the piece is from Ricardo, i would think that this guy composed this piece and would have written a comment like "Ole, very nice composition + 5 Stars" or something.....

btw, you cant compare Paco with this case. Everybody know Paco and his falsetas.
And its not about suing someone,,,,,maybe just a friendly message that at least one sentence should be mentioned from whom the composition is. That is not too much to ask for,......whatever, i dont want to be Ricardos lawyer here lol.....he knows better if it is ok or not

Ricardo -> RE: Tanguillo from Ricardo ? (Feb. 1 2009 15:10:34)

Thanks for your concern guys. Cory is like a brother to me, he can play whatever he wants of mine, I am flattered anyway. THanks for the find by the way!

Ricardo

At first no disrespect to Ricardo with any of the following words.

Well,.. I think its always an honor to see people playing ones stuff. I would also appreciate that!
But if I would be Cory, I would have chosen a piece which I´m able to play for the performance. His playing was not save at all and his wrists had the mobility of broken wrists in plaster. Maybe a nice guy, but a poor performance.

He wrote a book about flamencoguitar???? [&:] You are joking no? Reminds me on the endless castingshows for singing in TV. Everybody who can open his mouth and make a noise has a try....

Taranto -> RE: Tanguillo from Ricardo ? (Feb. 2 2009 9:22:53)

The description is now updated mentioning Ricardo.

[:D] You are a tuff critic doit, but we all know it already![8D] The poor guy was embarrased he did not know it was going up. He transcribed it from my CD himself before checking the transcription, that I would have happily given him after all he has done for me. He says he is playing it better now. LOL

apparently he co-wrote the book with Juan Serrano. Sort of a text book for the students in fresno that are required to study both flamenco AND classical guitar. I would never have believed it possible had I not been there in person. Many of the students are doing quite well balancing the stuff in an acedemic way. Cory was pretty new to flamenco when I met him a couple years ago, but does his best to present flamenco to the students as authentically as possible. (Meaning, he knows quite well what is abilties in flamenco guitar are....). he is quite exceptional as teacher in that respect, getting good artists for the students to do workshops, and even takes them to Spain! He is also close to manolo Sanlucar and Gerardo, and seems to be turning more everyday from classical guitar to flamenco. But his job was to fill the shoes of Juan Serrano as professor, so he is doing his best to keep it "real" so the program survives.

So more power to him, and as you guys can see they changed the description within a day of you guys noticing.

Anyway peace guys.

Ricardo

Arash -> RE: Tanguillo from Ricardo ? (Feb. 2 2009 9:48:23)

Well, i would not say that it was a poor performance.... it was slower than the original and not 100% perfect with some minor mistakes .....but poor performance is something different for me (it depends to whom you compare it imo)......

His right hand looked a little bit cramped with too much tense.....should "relax" the hand a little bit .....

What i liked was that his playing is emotional.....

Doitsujin -> RE: Tanguillo from Ricardo ? (Feb. 2 2009 10:27:39)

Well,.. I have to say, that I saw Cory doing a performance of a nice "classical" piece live. That fit very well on him and was very smoothly performed. So... also no disrespect to Cory. Everybody has his territory! [;)]
