Early winter

Winter seems to have come early everywhere this year. The last week Granada has been shrouded in black clouds and freezing temperatures. This evening the clouds lifted just long enough to see the mountains and sunset from my roof. The Ski slopes are already open. Anyone else got some snow pictures where they live right now?

Gorgeous! I was in Granada at the beginning of June this year and there was still a little snow on the mountains.

I'd rather be back there now, too!

I'm wearing 2 pair of socks and 2 jerseys ATM and thinking of looking on the Damart site for some thermal longjohns.

It's been bloody freezing here for the last few days with ice and snowfalls and a Siberian wind.

The utility companies have just bumped the cost of gas and electricity up by another 25% too even though they are making record profits.

With all this and the Credit Crunch too, I feel like just going to bed and hibernating till the Summer....

cheers,

Ron

Yep, it's damn cold here too.

My brother lives up in Aberdeen, so I dread to think what it's like there. Snowy, I think, but even coldererer.

I didn't want the picture to be that big. It started to snow a few hours after you requested pics.

Is that England?? I had forgotten those winter skies.

To resize your image.
1.Open the .jpg with photoshop
2.Go to "image" tab and scroll down to "image size"
3. In the "pixel dimensions" box change the height to around 350
(the width will change automatically)
4. Go to "file" tab and scroll down to "save as". Give your new image a name or you'll erase the original image

Thanks Pimientito. I changed it.

It's not England--it's a few miles from Pittsburgh, PA.

Ron, did you take that picture? It looks like Middle Earth!

Hi Estevan,
It's an "arty" picture from the local newspaper, (the little lanterns are cute), but yeah...it's pretty much normal for up here.
I used to stay in a very similar house as that.
Aberdeenshire is a million miles away from places like Edinburgh or Glasgow.
Get a few (like 4) miles out of Aberdeen city or even a small town like Stonehaven and you are totally encompassed by the old Caledonian forest and the little crofts and smithies trying to make a living.
I was taking some rubbish up to the local recycling plant up the old back road to Banchory on Friday and you only had to drive a couple of miles before everything became all dark and the sky filled with tall, ancient fir trees covered in snow and skinny winding roads and rickety bridges over streams and a creepy sense of forboding....MacBeth and all that!

Brrrr...I'm off to bed and my Electric Blanket!

cheers,

Ron

Not much change here. Why, here's an image taken just a few days ago in Sanlúcar...

Just kidding. It's cold as hell here! No snow, though. Very nice photos you've uploaded!

Just to relate this to guitar, I'll add that I heard a guitarist once say that she takes a hot-water bottle on the road with her when she tours (might have been Liona Boyd) because it works great for warming up hands (without moisture).

Or you can get those little gel hand warmers with a little metal disc in that you click to make them go warm. They don't go too hot but they're handy to have in your pocket at this time of year.

I exploded mine on the stove last night though.

Ha Ha I live in Cold and Frosty Canada and so far only one real frosty day this Winter and it is nice right now. It is supposed to cool down with clear skies and frost tomorrow and snow on the local Mountains for skiing predicted for the weekend. At sea level it will be rain and a bit cold and clammy. That is the only downside to Vancouver.
