And I'm expecting to see sushi billed as 'Japanese tapas' sometime soon - it seems inevitable.

A new bar opened on Plaza Nueva. I had been watching it with interest as its sign said Oriental Cafe. I was hoping for sushi, miso, noodles, spring rolls, nuevo Asian fusion food ( oooops can I say that here?) . Inside I watched the Chinese family painting and decorating and finally it opened. I was amazed to see the 'tapas' menu ....... jamon, paella, chorizo etc etc. I could have wept. Dreams of sashimi shattered :(

No, you have to start a new thread: "Asian fusion - a definition"

Funny, just opened here is a new Japanese restaurant and bar, which looks genuine (not that I would know) with all the food prepared in the open. If you ever make it down this way we could try it.

Come visit Vancouver and I can take you and your brother around until you've eaten enough raw fish for a lifetime.

Then we can start looking for Chinese food, and if you like picante y ajo, there's Korean.

There's better Asian food here than pretty much anything else.

I was watching TV the other day and there was a travel/food show called Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations. Before I could change the station I saw that it was about Spain. From the looks of it, there should be enough variety there without Asian food.

My brother ??? He lives in Vietnam, so he's sort of had his fill already But thank you would love to come to Vancouver some day and eat !

I am sure there's loads of variety in Spanish cuisine else where, but here in Granada they all see to serve the same thing ........ jamon, fried fish, jamon, paella and more jamon. Tsk I shouldn't complain but I do love Asian food ! We dont even have a good curry house here. I tend to go mad on trips back to London, if only my friends wouldn't insist on going to Spanish Tapas bars. I even ended up in a Spanish Tapas Bar in Phnom Pen, Cambodia !!

HMmm... there aren't that many girls on the foro in Spain, with relatives. Unless, one of these guys is your husband...? I have no clue. But anyone shows up around here from the foro and I'm sure that cathulu or I would be pleased to show ya'll around.

We have a dearth of Spanish(style) tapas over here, AFAIK. But we have a very large E. Indian community so lots of curry available.

Personally, I prefer W. Indian and curries from farther East than India, although I wouldn't go out of my way for any of it. But I'm no gourmand or foodie, so it means little what I would do.

International cuisine has always struck me as bizarre. My old man took me to Pizza Hut for some reason when I was visiting him in S. Korea. I looked but they had no kimchee toppings available, so I was rather miffed at having to eat normal Pizza...
