Amazing 11 year old

Nothing to do with flamenco at all. I was checking out some videos of guitar players playing Paganini. No matter how good the players, it never sounds as good as you get it on violin. I figured out Paganinis 5th caprice some years ago more as aright hand exercise than anything else but could never get it to speed. Check out this 11 year old though...just flawless!

Marcos, are you sure you put the right link for that first one? How come it's in the censored section of YouTube? Is she really playing Paganini...?

Yes Estevan she really is playing Paganini, and frighteningly good. I have no clue why anyone might consider the video unsuitable for minors, especially since the star IS a minor. It has to be a lame joke.

I dont know why someone flagged it either....unless they thought there was something spookily supernatural about a kid being able to play like that!

Good stuff. Expect to see more and more chinese virtuosos popping up over the next decade. If one day they ever catch on to flamenco then spain had better watch out!

I find it difficult to listen to classical music on the guitar these days. It just doesn't have the authority of a piano or violin. Bach's chaconne sounds miles better on violin imo.

I agree, much of that classical stuff doesnt really translate to guitar so well, although the the lute suites and some of bachs other compositions sound good on guitar.
But as for virtuoso violin and piano music, Sarasate, Paganini, Liszt etc, even idf you can play it, it rarely has the impact as it does on the original instrument.
Here is Elliot fisk trying the first caprice on guitar. Bear in mind he is a fantastic technition and makes a better job of it than any of us could but it still doesnt sound half as good as the 11 year old on violin.

Maybe guitar should just be for flamenco?

Ok some fool mixed the 11 year old and Jason Becker playing this simultanoeusly for comparison? Actually Becker does more or less acheive concert velocity (unless its been sped up)

.....Olé Olé...finally found a guitar version that actually sounds good.
This is tapped on electric guitar but actually has some duende instead of sounding like a painful exercise. Right....thats enough Paganini for a while, I'm gonna find my Ibanez!

Becker plays it with more feeling.
