Flamenco at next Olympics?

While channel hopping this week from the depressing news of economic catastraphe, credit crunch, Dow Jones, Ft index, guaranteed bank accounts, housing prices, interest rates.......and Sarah Palin (This cant really be happening can it?....my Mum would make a better vice president!)

....anyway, as I said, whilst channel hopping I stumbled upon a serious discussion as to whether Golf should be an Olympic sport or not.....I mean GOLF. Now dont get me wrong, its a great way to spend a sunday morning...but an Olympic sport?? What next ...Tiddlywinks? Olympic darts? or how about Olympic dominoes?....maybe I could get a gold medal at Olympic Poker!!

...and then the idea hit me. OLYMPIC FLAMENCO. OK it has a wealth of amateur competitors, it can be judged, it has an international appeal and (at least on this forum) it is fiercely competitive.
Don't laugh, if we can have Olympic synchronised swimming, ice skating and ballroom dancing, why not have enter flamenco cuadros (except Spain might win everything) Who would win Olympic gold at flamenco guitar? In fact I think a couple of certain US and Australian competitors could slug it out in the heavyweight flamenco guitar finals

Of course you'd have a problem with the vast amount of sub-disciplines (guitar-tu ning, synchronous jaleos, saetas as a special archery form ...)

I think the paper/rock/scissors/pencil version is more olympic in spirit

paper rock sissors? What planet are you guys on - the alphabet planet?

The game we play is rock paper scissors. That is a much better game than paper rock scissors and truly olympic caliber!
