I noticed a small error, hopefully the only one, on the variation, the third beat should be an open string and not back to the third fret as I showed...

Here it is in Tabledit - tef. I could only do 16 measures, the basic idea should be clear. Sorry, the presentation is not perfect, I have never tried to put musical ideas down on paper, and there is a lot to it, and I am not that happy with it but c'est la vie. The tempo should default to 80 bpm which I think is reasonable...
