"Fake" Windows XP update?

Hi,
I just got an email from Microsoft informing me of a Official Windows XP Update 2008.

Looks very convincing with all the Microsoft stuff, but something made me suspicious, so I checked the message source and it's not from Microsoft.
I entered it in google and it appears that it's some sort of malware.

So be careful.

cheers,

Ron

Whenever there is a new update, your windows automatically informs you through the built-in update function.
Microsoft never sends emails.

BTW.....few days ago i heard about a new russian virus which steals all your passwords in your PC (ebay, paypal, and simply every password you use) and changes them and then you reaceive an email that you have to pay them some money to get the passwords lol
And it seams that there is no cure for this virus because of the code. Even Kaspersky has no solution. They can only block the virus if you have the lastest updates. So be careful too and update your Antivir!!

I recently got an update prompt, for service pack 3.

Looks official, but you never know.

Its incredible. I get personal mail for increasing penis length (and girth), herbs to stop losing hair, pills for losing weight and hot tips on the stock market too....I mean how do these guys know all this stuff about me?? Are they spying on me through my webcam??

Dont worry Doit. If you do die soon we will all get mail from a civil servant in Nigeria, explaining of how a rich, eccentric flamenco guitarist spontaneously evaporated in strange circumstances, shortly after depositing his wealth in a third world bank and revealing how only we, the trusted reader, can access all those millions in your now frozen bank account.

I am amazed at how much money I win in lotteries I never enter. Its great sending back ya details - Name - Darth Vader, Address- 666 Death Star Avenue, Occupation - Sith Lord.
One chap at work actually set up a life policy in the name of darth vader (was his last day at work) asking if he had any ailments, asthma and wheezing. heh
