Because, of course, six strings are never enough...

Looks interesting. I enjoyed the music, but that's more about the composer than the guitar - here and there you can clearly hear him take advantage of the two extra bass strings (especially in the tarantas), but overall it doesn't seem to add that much.

I totally agree. Its only in the Taranta I hear a real difference and here he plays solo.

This is a typical very solo guitar performance with lots of arpeggios, picados etc and the guy plays very well. In these circumstances the guitar works ok. But he hardly plays any rasgueados.....

Building 8 strings means having to put more tension in the top because of a higher string drag or tension. More tension in the top normally makes the guitar less flamenco with more sustain and "ring" in the rasgueados. We normally look for strong percussive response with clear drop dead rasgueados.

8 and 10 string guitars are great for classical, latin and for other musics where the player likes to do lotes of arpeggios etc.

I was once asked to build a 10 string flamenco guitar, but I said no because I couldnt control the attack and feeling. This would not make me feel it was a flamenco guitar but someting else with cypress backs and sides and since the client had tried a 6 string flamenco guitar of mine and wanted a 10 string with the same characteristics, I had to be honest and say no.
