What software are you using?
Many softwarepackeges delivered with camcorders have a lot of editting possibilities wich makes it difficult to do the easiest things with your video.

If you have windows XP, its obvious that you have the program Windows Movie Maker on your pc (as far as I know its standard installed). It's very usefull for simple copy/paste/audio stuff, and easy to understand.

The possibilities are very limited of Windows Movie Maker, wich makes it very easy to understand for simple thing as cutting, overlaying sounds, adding titles, compress files for youtube etc. I don't know the software you get so I cannot help you with that but most of the time ppl get drowned in the possibilities of extended editting software wich makes a simple videocut a drama.
Good luck with it!
