Help !!!! Paco De Lucia Tickets in Spain

Paco De Lucia has announced numerous tour dates in Spain, Portugal, Italy, Germany, France and Turkey.

Can anyone tell me where I (a U.K fan) can purchase Paco De Lucia tickets because I have searched high and low on the internet for them - with no luck. Are they even on sale yet.

I would love to see him in any of the spanish locations : Ubeda, Granada, Jimena De La Frontera, Nerja Sevilla or Cordoba.

Please point me in the right direct of a ticket broker or website.

Thanks.

As far as I know here in Granada they are not for sale yet. The day they go on sale will be the day they sell out. Everyone I know plans to camp out all night. Last time he played here the guest list was almost as big as the paying audience. But you never know.....

I just had a look at www.telentrada.com and they have tickets for Barcelona from 24 - 79 euros. Click this link

Thanks Kate,

I'm not surprised about the fact that they will sell-out - im surprised that tickets are still available in Barcelona of all places.

Again thanks for the link to telentrada.com - though its gonna be difficult for me as I cant speak or read a word of spanish.

If you go to the page and look at the right hand side you will see

¿QUÉ ESPECTÁCULO BUSCAS? ( This means "What show are you looking for?")

Nombre o palabra clave: ( This means "Name or key word" so type in Paco de Lucia)

Then hit the button
Buscar ( which means "To search")

Look down and you will see Paco de Lucia's name and click on it.

On the next page that comes up you see his name and a button which says "Comprar entradas" ( This means "By tickets")

You then get a page which gives you the place and time of the show and the button in green "Aceptar" which means you confirm the show is the one you want.

You then get a page with the prices and a map of the theatre showing you the seating plan. On the left is the price option in euros, localidad means where the seats are and the column called 'libre' shows ( with a si or no, yes or no) whether the seats are available. Click on the button in the column 'selec' ( which means select) and then the button 'aceptar'.

This is as far as I went in the process as I am sure the next part will be filling in card details. It is not too difficult especially with the help of a dictionary. There are quite a few good online dictionaries you can use as well.

Hope this helps,
good luck
Kate

Kate you are my angel.

Thanks again.

Ive managed to book a pair of 3rd row tickets. Im finally gonna see this guitar God. Now all I need is for him to play La Barossa and Entre Dos Aguas to make it perfect. Im going to see Paco Pena next Saturday in Brighton, UK. Have you seen him play before ?

With you camping out the night before 3rd row tickets would probably be too far away. I hope you get the central 1st row tickets every paco fan wants.

Maybe I could come down to Granada holding a board "LOOKING for FOROFLAMENCO KATE" and jump the queue :D

Let me know if your get your tickets.

Bindu.

Hi Bindu,

Glad you managed to het the tickets, third row not bad at all. Sounds much easier than queueing up all night. I 'll let you know if I get tickets.

Yes I have seen Paco Peña play but that was before I went to live in Spain, before I really knew anything about flamenco and I may have changed me perspective since then. I saw him in London and remember vividly a scene where one of his dancers seduced him, and the audience, with castanets that simply oozed sexuality.

I'd be veryinterested to know what you think and about eth crowd. he's booked to play quite a few nights, is it 3, and I 'd be interested to know if he gets a good crowd all three nights. I was in Brighton just recently talking with some promoters and they will be watching this show carefully to see how big the audiences can be for flamenco, how well it goes down and if there is potential to bring over artists from spain and make it pay enough.

For Paco its easy he just has to drive round the M25 as long as he avoids rush hour .

let me know how it goes and if you ever get to Granada, you can just email me, no need to walk the streets with a banner

Hi Kate,

I'll let you know about the Paco Pena concert.

As a side issue - I've booked a two week holiday in the 1st week of september. Im going to be staying in a villa in Motril - not far from Granada.

Do you know anything about a flamenco festival held in Seville during that time, because I think Paco De Lucia is due to play there on the 14th September. If you find out about Paco Seville tickets can you let us know.

Do you play the flamenco guitar - It really helps the "philosophical exploration of the evolution of human thought"

Sadly no, but my compás are getting better. If you are in Motril its a quick bus ride to Granada. As for Paco, I'll keep my eye out for news. Our friend Emilio just gave us Paco's CD which we are enjoying, even though it is a bit disconcerting when you are in the middle of recording a guitar album. Still it keeps us on our toes.

Just heard we are to be involved in a recording of Morente sometime soon, to be filmed in the Alhambra. Now the big question is, who's going to play guitar? Rumours abound

Hi Kate,

Are you a record producer or something. What do you do in Spain. I thought you were the girl in the picture on one of your links - 1st class from UNL in Spanish and Latin America studies. Thats where I got the "philosophical exploration of the evolution of human thought" quote. I guess Im mistaken.

Yes my partner Harold and I have a recording studio here in Granada. I'm not actually allowed near the controls though, I do the business side, promotion, translation and keep the beers cold. Last year I took a group of young flamencos Taller de Compás to play in the States/Canada which was wild. I just went to the UK to see if I could get some of our artists playing at verious venues and festivals over there. I hope to get Emilio Maya at the Bath Guitar festival next year. We are due to launch his album in June at the Festival of Music and dance in Granada.

Its a good life if you dont mind the lack of sleep

I am, I am that girl !!!! The one reading paper in Plaza Nueva ( or else you be looking at one of the 16 year olds from Taller de Compás) and yes did my degree at UNL, now known as the Metropolitan University ( though that makes it sound like something out of Superman). I was called a mature student but I think they were mistaken.

So Kate, how is our young prodigy doing?

When do we get to see some photos of this young lad in action?

Update on Andrés, our dancer (in reply to Patrick

Hi Pat,

I'm happy to report he is doing brilliantly, in fact the other day I was stopped by one of the people involved at the school to tel me how pleased they were he had been accepted and that helping dancers like Andrés was just what the school should be doing. Last year he was not accepted as he had no ballet. This year I thik the fact that we got all the publicity ( and n help whatsoever) for the US tour meant they could not refuse him.

Yesterday Andrés passed by the house and showed me a whole load of ballet moves which he describes as 'poofy' but he has picked it up fast for someone who had never even seen a ballet never mind have a class and who thinks its 'poofy'.

He also has an audition for work in the fall on a cruise ship, which could be good discipline and pays very well, but would mean three months away from home and as his Dad is very sick it may not be possible.

Estela and I are trying to persuade him to enter the Concurso en Cordoba but he is not that confident to compete amongst dancers who have been nurtured and taken classes since birth and who pay the best guitarists and singers. I understand his reluctance even though i think he can compete with the best of them. La Fuensanta, a Granada dancer who won La Union last year, told me she had classes all her life and her family supported her to the extent of actually moving to Madrid so she could attend a school there. Such dedication, and aparantly her parents aren't even keen on flamenco.

As for photos I shall send Simon some. I thought I had done already but possibly not. I've also got a DVD ready to send him and suppose he could put up a 6 minute dance sequence.

Finally the fund has been fantastic or Andrés. So far we raised €712. Unfortunately the dollar aint what it used to be and I got a ¢10 from Canada I dont know what to do with but its been great. So we bought him new boots and ballet slippers and paid for his transport and a month's school fees. Right now we have €102 in the kitty and at the end of the month I hope to have €390 so we can pay next months. He still has not received his grant from the local council. Andrés is working 20 hours a week for €40 , I know ouch who would would want to work for so little but it helps. I have een referring people to paypay which gives us added bonuses whcih go into the fund. Also I have been passing contacts to Andrés to look for gigs for teh group and claim 10% management fee. So it all adds up one way or another.

Every little helps, so if anyone hasn't donate yet or people want to donate again. It is not too late. And a big thank you to everyone who has helped.

Kate

If he does go, even to watch, I'll be there for the semis in the last week of April. Like to buy him a beer. Another donation from me will be on its way soon.

Photo is here and also from our home page.

Kate,

Glad to here he's doing well. I hope all the new folks read this and step up to the plate (I guess that's a US saying) and help him out.

I'll toss in a few more bucks as well next week.

Thanks Pat,

I know I keep saying it but every little helps and Andres has been amazed at everyone's generosity in helping him. I think this forum is very special bringing us all together to help each other and even to play music together.

I was telling Emilio about this forum and when we have some time he wants to have a listen to what you have all done here. He was quite amazed to hear that flamenco players were jamming on line as it were.

His album is coming on beautifully. We just finished recording a Minera which is just amazing. The flamencos all had tears in their eyes. I think you are all going to love the final result.

Today we are recording a soundtrack composed by a Gitano singer here in Granada for the TV campaign against violence towards women. It is called 'Basta Ya'. It is good to combine the flamenco we all love with social works as well.

Thanks again Pat,

un abrazo de Granada
Kate

Tell him, I enjoyed his playing in Jerez, wish I could have seen him though. They were tucked away a little.
