For those interested in pure gypsy f...

While it seems most here are more into PDL and solo stuff, I figured a few still like the purest of flamenco.

This guy is amazing guitarist, and an outstanding teacher, too, as he lives and breathes flamenco in Spain. His understanding is quite vast, as is his ability to translate that to us gabachos who didn't grow up with a 12-count beat in our heads. More important than just
playing guitar, Ethan Margolis teaches singing and dance accompaniment, AND the understanding of each palo and it's nuances. He works with palmeros, dancers (teaching dancing as well, his fiancé, dance teacher and acclaimed performer Cihtli 'La Gallardi' Ocampo), singers, and guitarist - solo or accompaniests.

He has just cut his first CD with 'El Funi' called 'Aire Gitanos'. It is pure, gypsy flamenco, and they are on tour this Fall in the U.S., as well as performing in Spain.

Here's a link for CD, lessons/dates/Cities, and performances/dates/Cities.

The 'artists' link has a bit about everyone associated with the troupe...

Enjoy

Thanks for the info! I just booked a couple of tickets for the L.A. performance -- I'm sure it will be a good one.

I just heard a buleria from the CD, and IT ROCKS! I love Ethan's playing, and for those who seen that old black and white stuff of Diego el Gastor on YouTube, etc., that young singer guy with the cigarette holder (Olé!) is El Funi.

Well worth a listen - or a lesson, if Ethan's sched' comes to town. His understanding is pretty amazing...
