Very nice Grisha!

Count me in for one!

I want to ask something about your guitar; I was waching the video on youtube where you played Paco's Guajira.
It looks like if the bases are coming out more from the above soundhole, and the high notes are coming out from the "rozet"sound hole.
Is this true, ore are my ears and eyes playing with me?

To My ears the basses and high notes are more separated with your guitar?
Is that also when you play "live"?

Peter.

Thank you all very much for your replies! I have to thank Steve Connor for the guitar that he made, but just as much my sound engineer, Vince Go. His ears and skill are unbelievable! Strangely, his inspiration for the sound of this record was Metallica's latest album...

Peter, how in the world can you hear that in that recording?! To be honest I don't quite understand... Could you please explain your question? Thanks!

Hi Grisha,

Not only do you sound great, but you are able to capture the style of Sabicas amazingly as well.

Awesome!

RE: my new Sabicas CD (in reply to Grisha

Hi Grisha,

I think my ears and eyes play a game with me and it is self sugestion than.

What I ment was that it looks like a bit that the bass notes and the high notes are more seperated.
Like you play on two differend guitars, one for the bass and one for the high notes.
So it looked like to me, that the bass notes where coming out more on the upper sound hole, and the high notes out of the front sound hole.

All the best!
Peter

I suspect Doit would be more appreciative if Grisha played some of Jesus De Rosario, or Jeronimo Maya.

But I think most of us can also appreciate Sabicas...

What's the point? They are alive and well and can perform that stuff perfectly themselves. If I want to play something modern, it won't be music by them. It will be my own!

Well .. no Im no Dr. taxi-driver or comedian... Just someone with an opinion. And that was no joke this time. I think Grisha is an extreme talented player and should compose own music. There is no need for copying somebody 100% and press it on CD coz its already grabbed on CD and LP. Its waste of talent just to copy. He´s too good for doing this IMO.
Well.. he could do own interpretations of this stuff. That would be very good too IMO. But with this technics and I think knowledge too,... its a shame just to do the cassette-recorder.

Didnt you upload some own bulerias stuff in past Grisha? I remember it was fantastic. Why not using this?

Yeah, I know you have a valid point. It was just the use of the word "'dusty" that was funny. Grisha is still a young guy. He has time. Since he can play that music that well, why not record it? Tommorow or the day after he can record his own stuff.

RE: my new Sabicas CD (in reply to Grisha

hmm.. yes that sounds ok for me.. Well maybe its a good idea to record it. Why not.

To the dusty. I dont like Sabicas compositions.. And I think his style is and oldtimer now. Some people like it very much coz its nostalgic. And others think.. its a bit retarded in comparison to todays flamenco. And ok.. the other point is, that old flamenco is really pure and has its unique flair which modern flamenco doesnt have, coz it mutates more and more to pop-music..
Sabicas was under the old-timers a unique one. He had his own style which I dont like. Maybe coz I messed two of his compositions completely during a gig around 7 years ago..

Grisha,

Absolutely fantastic!!!!! I love it. I can´t wait for the CD to come out.

Doitsujin,

Dude....... I respect your opinion but I think you have completely missed the boat with Sabicas´ compositions. They are absolutely fantastic and very innovative...... for his time and for ours. Sabicas was nothing less that a genius and a virtuoso. I think you need to go back and listen to the great masters.

Just my opinion.

Un saludo desde España, Errol

I think you are right flamencoguru.. I hear too much modern flamenco. I like nino Ricardo. Sabicas had a very unique style. And the sound of his guitar was very unique, too which made his playing more unique. I like a sevillanas he played. The rest is not my taste, but I also think he was extremely good for his time. He was a genious. Just not my taste.

Sabicas is another foundation stone for the modern flamenco guitarist ,everyone should try and listen to some of his compositions as this is the knowledge we carry forward -playing them isnt always as easy as they sound ! He tried hard to widen the appeal of flamenco and integrated other forms such as the dropped tunings, harmonics, and percussive techniques into his playing .For this and his impessive technique even into his advanced years he deserves great recognition and no guitarist will be poorer for studying or playing his material
