Argentine Guitarist Cacho Tirao passes

Hi,

Cacho Tirao died May 30th, 2007 at Buenos Aires. He was 66. Grisha brought him to my attention only months ago and he has cited him as an inspiration. Here are two vidoes and there are more on youtube...

It's nice to see somebody that also likes Cacho Tirao

Lionel, here's another one. I saw Cacho play at a guitar festival in France in 1974. I'd never heard of him and had no idea who he was, so it was astonishing to hear him play. One of the great guitarists of our time and an amazing natural musician.
As you say, playing tango on guitar isn't easy, but it's so fluent in his hands. And it wasn't just tango - he was great at Brazilian music, and anything else he felt like playing.
He had some health problems in recent years and was unable to play for a while. David Caswell "el tanguero inglés" organized fund-raising with benefit concerts and a tribute CD to help him until he was able to play again. He will be missed.
