To Estela

Are you over here yet?
Hey Estela,
That was a nice interview with Antonio Carrión!
Lovely guy.
It's good to know that he and folk like Diego Amaya still stick to the older forms, not because of any "puro" flag they are waving, but simply 'cos they like it!
I loved that bit in the "Marote" interview you did a while back, when he said...
"The young guitarists play like they have the hiccups....hic..hic...hic!
And the chords?????"
Loved it!

Ron

BTW Do you prefer being called "zata" or "estela"....I never know which to use!

Estela and I are working on Norton as it blocks posting to this site - as it will to others and it appears she cannot set up a trusted site.

Wow, this is great, like arriving late at a party and everyone's here...

Glad you liked the Carrión interview...what a nice guy, and rather shy. Now that I'm here, I can recommend the latest interview, with El Carbonero, the Jerez guitar teacher who has taught or teaches almost everyone in Jerez: http://www.deflamenco.com/entrevistas/carbonero/indexi.jsp

Zata is the name they want me to use at Flamenco-world, but I like to make sure people know it's me because I don't like to write anonymously...call me whatever you like, just keep it clean ...that's supposed to be wink face, but I don't know if I did it right.

Welcome, Estela, at last now we are moving!

Can't guarantee I can keep you here with this set-up but we'll fix it one way or the other.

Simon, you were absolutely brilliant! (he was brilliant, folks).

Now all I have to do is figure out how this place works...new visuals are always disorienting, but I'll galumph around and see what there is.

On the guitar front (so as not to be OT), Paco del Gastor is going to accompany Luis el Zambo at the Gazpacho de Morón this Saturday...a(n) historic event IMO. Paco, who is Morón's star guitarist, hasn't appeared at the Gazpacho in seven years, and he gets along famously with Zambo. We can expect the highest quality traditional flamenco, with enough 'aire' to blow everyone away (stupid pun intended).

Estela, I'm blushing - where do you live in Spain, if that is not too nosy? I was wondering where these events take place and how you get to hear about them. See, this forum can support calandars and it might be an idea to start one for fiestas, gigs etc.

Thoughts?

I'm still getting used to this place and didn't see your message til now Simon. I live in Moron (but don't hold it against me ). There are dozens of summer festivals all over Andalucía. The CAF website has a pretty complete list and you can search by date or other criteria: http://caf.cica.es/flamenco/ Click on Festivales 2003 in the menu at the left and the search window opens.

Is there a place to upload pictures?

You can attach pictures to a message in most forums. Look for "Click here to upload!", bottom left.
