Thank you very much HemeolaMan. Some have told me I have nice writing for a man. Others, that I write like a girl.

Tom--
We've been discussing Conde style soundboards in a recent thread. Can you tell us: How thick was this spruce top? Was it of uniform thickness? And where's the video?
Thanks.

Here I am! I've taken a "day job" and haven't done much flamencoing lately but I did catch Vicente Amigo last night and it was a great show!

To answer your question Ethan, the one that I had measured was just a hair over 2mm and was pretty much uniform. I never got a chance to video that guitar. One thing I noticed was that the two long struts that run along side the sound hole were cedar. So that's what I did and compared it to another one I built but this time using spruce. I didn't hear any tonal differences so I'm not 100% sure why they used cedar. They've also used spruce for these on other guitars I've seen. Maybe you have an idea?

What's up Mister T!

I've been waiting like, 8 years for your reply on this thread
You know... reason for spruce/cedar is different factories, or whatever is in the scrap bin. Maybe reclaimed wood pallets in a pinch?

So did you like the way the Conde builds turned out?

Better late than never right? You're a very patient man They turned out good. Each one better than the last. I may get around to building another but next is a bench copy of an 86' Reyes. When I get some time

I'll check back in 8 years to see how the Reyes turned out!

I'm gearing up to start my first, and would prefer if it turned out like an 86 Reyes. I'll probably won't have all the jigs ready to go in 8 years, no time either :/

They look great from your Instagram pics btw!

Tom,

Great work, would love to hear how it sounds.

Regarding the dust problem. I don't build guitars yet but do some woodworking. I made several gates out of western red cedar and had no dust collection and was breathing a lot of dust, thank god no problems but I am taking it very seriously now using a respirator mask when ever cutting or sanding wood. I work in an open garage so I don't think a air filter would help. I use a Shop Vac with a good filter on my tools. And I bought one of these, it will tell you if there is a problem and how bad it is:
