Juben, that's gold. Thanks! I'll be sure to print it out + bring it with, just in case.

Juben, that's useful... Where might I find a corresponding letter for Canada? I don't know if we have the same permissions, but maybe...

Con

hey conrad
not sure about Canada, however the AFM, http://www.afm.org, represents Canada as well (I think). Well I'm pretty sure because their headquarters are in Toronto. So I suppose that means this letter is good for Canadians as well, since the AFM negotiated these terms with the TSA. Hope this helps!
best

Conrad, I don't think this applies to Canada. I had no luck trying to carry a guitar on Air Canada a couple of months ago, but they put it in "Special handling" which means they plaster it with FRAGILE stickers and it comes out of a separate part of the arrivals area. Instead of the conveyor belts it is carried from the plane on a cart and is then tossed to you through a hole in the wall (at Pearson) along with all the skis and other sports gear!
I looked up Transat's policy and you can carry on a musical instrument only if it's about the size of a Suzuki violin.

ramparts, make sure to check the AFM site on this topic, because it appears that there are no guarantees:

Good luck and buen viaje!
Steve
