Zorro, if I were you I would try and learn AS MANY palos AS POSSIBLE. Obviously don't confuse yourself by overdoing it, and start with a some simplified falsettas. My teacher gave me ONE A4 SHEET of manuscript, and on it was ONE LINE from most of the palos, which was basically a simplified form of it, and fairly easy to get the hang of. Mark is right: there is no substitute for one-on-one tuition, even if its just an occasional supplement to books and DVDs. Personally, I am familiar with the Bulerias compas (12, 3, 6, 8, 10), and can play a simplified version of it, but I'm a LONG, LONG way off mastering it, or even playing intermediate level buleria. I will be for YEARS probably. If Ricardo can't help you, find a good teacher locally and ask him to show you the basics of each palo, starting with the raw compas, then basic falsettas and then progressing to more complex falsettas. And spend the rest of your time absorbing (and familiarizing yourself with) as much of the music as possible. Its not an "overnight thing". At least it hasn't been for me. But slowly and surely you will improve. Jb
