can someone differentiate these styl...

I was reading some book on flamenco, and noticed that there are many different styles of flamenco (which I am aware of). However, I was wondering if anyone can define the differences between each, such as: Lebrija style, Madrid style, Seville Style, Jerez style, Uterla style, etc.
Anyways, I have a vague understanding of each...just wondering if there are any defining characteristics . Or, is there much overlap between all groups? Any/all information is much appreciated!

I recommend you get your hands on the Rito y Geografia del Cante DVD series. If you are seriously interested, you will get all that explained and much more.

Oh I will get them, since they were recently formatted for the US...I already own the baile series, and toque is on its way...just a matter of getting the cash for the entire cante series...you know?

Ricardo,

The Rito y Geografia del Cante DVD series is pretty expensive. Could you recommend a particular volume or volumes that show the kind of close ups and clarity of the Paco taranta.

My favorite is at Caracol's house. Very emotional scene.

Although as a guitarist, there is not better guitar footage than that Paco episode for studying perfect technique.

You sort of need to get the entire set in order to really understand the regional differences. Like if you want just the Triana region, you can get just that DVD. Barrio Santiago shows you Jerez, etc. But to make comparison, you need to get at least several episodes. Tracing the fandangos is interesting too.
