Amalio Burguet ABF

Please can anyone advise me??? I am in Spain March and looking to buy the ABF model from the Burguet factory in the Valencia region. The guitar is made especially to order, so I will not have the opportunity to try it before that date. If I decide it is not for me, where do I stand, will the luthier understand and accpet my decision or am I in some way morally obliged to buy the guitar because I have placed the order?
I have heared nothing but good reports about this make and model. Has anyone had the opportunity to try one and if so, what wasyour verdict?

Hola!

First it's just ONE point of view :
I was considering it also, as there was a second-hand for sale (Braz. rosewood). At a (very) low price : 1400€
Glad I went to try it. It was "dull" sounding : no volume, weak trebles and boomy bass. BUT : the guitar stayed unplayed for one year or more, and I only had the opportunity to try it 2 times, for 15 minutes each (I came back "to be sure") + it was a very humid weather at the time and negra sometimes really don't like bad weather.
I didn't buy the guitar, even with this very low price..
Here is just MY experience with ABF.

Ps: If your "good" reviews sources are on the Harmony Central website, be careful : IMO when there isn't "enought" comments (above 20 or so) I would say the evaluations can be really distorted. Because of several things but mostly because of something called "self-justification" As it's not "pro" review but buyers putting a review, the notes are pretty high...

Ps2 : I think that when you make an order, most builders won't agree if you want to refuse the guitar after... But ask first the Burguet to know..

Pace e salute

Hi there,
As a guitar maker myself, it would depend on the circumstances that you have ordered the guitar from Burguet. For example if you have ordered an instrument with special requirements like left handed or special dimention fingerboard then you would be obliged to take it on. But if what you ordered is pretty much a production line guitar there might be room for negotiation if it turns out that this guitar is not what you want, as it would be possible for them to sell it on to other clients.
If you have no joy with them you are very welcome to come and see what I have if you are near Lewes, my websites are: Sussex spanishguitar.org.uk, spanishguitarshop.co.uk

Thank-you Pablo that is very helpful. I have not oredered any unusual extras or specifications. I am in Spain anyway, so hopefully the guitar will meet all my expectations. I will take a look at your site and get back to you. Thanks again

Hi again Pablo.
Nicely designed site, I see you have quite a few Cashimira guitars for sale. I currently have the 105 flamenco and would recommend it to the serious learner/intermediate player.
It is currently for sale. It has solid cyprees back and sides, spruce top, ebony fingerboard and the famous pineapple headstock. It is a 2002 model and is fitted with Fishman tranducer and includes a hard shell case. £725 is the aslking price if you or anybody else is interested. WHAT A BARGAIN!

See my posting on Lester DeVoe for my feelings on non Spanish Luthiers.
Granada is 3-4 hr Drive from Murcia which is a little too far for me to travel.
Thanks for your advice, and good luck with your shows and site for 2007.
