RE: two rasgueado exercises (in reply to duende

thank you for the ras-I am willing to try anything, but I do have a question, my assumption is that the "q" is the thumb? the first exercise then is straightforward thumb, ami, i, repeat, the second however asks a seperate question.
If you are going for a continous sound, the idea of q amii, qami,iami, and then leading with qlmii, qamiiamii is setting up a different rythm and is there a purpose for that rythym? I understand the exercise value, it is the rythmn that concerns me? thanks adn happy NY>

Rick;

The letter q may stand for the little finger.

If you want to try a few rasgueados go to my web site and look for 101 Rasgueados.

The system I was taught is this:

P = Pulgar = Thumb

I = Indice = Index

M = Medio = Middle Finger

A = Anular = Ring Finger

m = meñique = little finger

You will also find the little finger represented by many different letters, such as but not limited to c, and x.

Hi rick.
The q stands for the little finger.

Even though you can use these rasgueados for a continous sound this exercise
will help you control your rasgueado so that you can change finger after you allready begun the rasgueado.I did practice this so that i can do a rasgueado at any time starting with any finger and also change in the middle of the rasgueado.

Remember to do it slow. 50-80 bpm is a good start.
