RE: What happen to Thomas Whiteley (in reply to DavidT

Hey guy's, what is wrong with this site.
When I first came in I thought, what a great site.
Loads of info on all matters concerning the love of my life "Playing guitar".
Its fantastic for all technical matters, loads of help from members. All manage to stay civil. Then you get a thread like this.
It a load of crap, honestly.
We all are guitarists, and as such we all have our own tastes and styles of playing.
Its the one thing about the guitar above all other instruments. You get to do your own thing. Its the one thing that has made the instrument evolve over the last few century's.
I am in a classical site and a Celtic site as well. And I have'nt yet seen the slightest insults in any way. They may not agree what another guitarist says, but they certainly respect them for their opinion on each persons musical opinions.
If this Mr Whiteley left the site because of getting slagged off for his opinions on guitar playing, then that is sad.
If there is one thing I have found in my guitar playing life, that is that you can always learn from another guitarist, irrespective of his years or experience in his musical life.
Anyway. I hand the soapbox over to someone else now.

Then you haven't been on them very long, have you? Disagreements and petty arguing is a fact of life, and magnified greatly by the virtual anonymity and lack of consequences that occur on the internet. They are only as important as you decide to make of them.

Exactly why Ottmar shouldn't even be fodder for this forum. But hey...that's just me.

Im sorry, i couldnt help being a bit sarcastic when it comes to that type of "flamenco".

But what i mean is that people seem to see opposition where there is none, and start arguing about it.

Without traditional flamenco there wouldnt be any "modern" flamenco and being a soloist is a development from the base of being an accompanist, so there is no conflict there either.

I know that some people love traditional flamenco and cant stand some of the modern music, and i have respect for that opinion, even if it isnt necessarily the same view i have. (Even if i sometimes get sick of hearing the same "catchy" estribillo choir over and over, but then i just put on someting like menese and my ears are cleansed.)

I just mean if people could at least agree on some of the basic concepts, then maybe some of these arguments wouldnt happen so often.

With respect of playing style and level of playing, I will only say, that if some of you guys with tons of Tomatito and Vicente Amigo falsetas ever mix with real world flamenco here in Andalucia, (I´m talking about places with dancers and singers, not some group of guitarist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) You´d be told to get your act together and play something that the rest, the group, can use, and you´d be told to stop showing of, or you might even be told to go to the bar and have drink and not disturb what is going on.
People playing like Thomas, would be respected and invited to join the party.....

You should never forget this

lol Ever post under the name of Billy Jack at FT ?

Tomas had some arguments with some of the members here (myself included) not because with some of our own playing but because different tastes, he insulted some people and those people then insulted him back its as simple as that. He didnt like it and left, I dont have any grudges or dislike the guy.

But i think that if u werent here when the argument was happening its a litlle unfair to try and determine who was the victim or who was fair and who wasent.
Or talk about who was repectful and who wasent, besides id like to put that argument behind me, its been over a long time ago, I wish Thomas a great life and goodluck, and he can come back here anytime, i hold no grudges or disliuke the guy, what's in the past is in the past, (not that he needs my permission to come back, but still id like to say it).

RE: What happen to Thomas Whiteley (in reply to Miguel de Maria

i wrote a thread like this asking wot happened to sorin popovici and no one seemed to care much for it, no one replied! i guess u have to do something controversial to be remembered. wot happened to thomas, i dunno. I dont know thomas, sorry cant help u out. i remember the thread being talked about though, he deleted his bit so obviouslty there was something about wot he wrote he thought might be better deleted? i know i uploaded a monkey picture, i hope he didnt say goodbye cause of the monkey pic, i liked the monkey pic. Nah he wouldnt have cared about the monkey pic. But then again i didnt know him so maybe he didnt like the monkey pic. Anyway i changed my avatar photo in repect, i tooked down the monkey pic with the fingers in his eyes. But if i find another good monkey pic maybe i will put that in. But if i put another monkey pic in maybe that will look bad. anyway i cant worry too much about the monkey pic i just hope no one gets offended by my monkey pic, because i dunno if i can stop posting the monkey pics. I need to go to monkey pic rehab, i dont know what happed, all i remeber is one day uploading a monkey pic and after that it sort of went crazy, i couldnt control the monkey pics anymore. asnyway i hope you come back thomas because even tho i nver new u, im sure that u have something to contribute here. Maybe sorin left because of the monkey pics
