RE: PIRATING (in reply to Guest)

In regards to real artistic stuff verses commercial, (which is what I care about more) there is WAY more stuff bootleged or out of print, than EASILY available. Commercial stuff and copyright laws protect the big guys only, and the little guy from getting ripped off by J LO. My favorite rock/metal band is pretty obscure and bootleg stuff is hard to find, but still more famous than some flamenco artists. On their website, the lead singer posted a photo of his royalty check from the record company, something like $2.50 for a period of several months I guess? Making money on records is for talantless record companies. Musicians make money playing music, concerts. Royalties roll in for people who are famous, regardless if they are musician or not. Flamenco is not money making music, unless you are Ottmar. Paco's biggest seller is Friday Night in San Fran, only a few million copies since the beginning, and the split it 3 ways. I have no problem with pirating flamenco. Stuff goes out of print faster than anyother music I like. Totally not fair to the artists. How long did it take for the Zambo reprint? Screw the record companies. Go to concerts when they are available. That is how to support musical artists. But on the other hand I don't like when folks complain about the cost of a cd or video of flamenco, or instructional vid. I mean, what do you expect? Ricardo
